Well... I really like the new one, so I disagree with the review but it's true that melodeath is slowly becoming like power metal, in the sense that it's getting oversaturated. Nevertheless, I think it's a good album but not as good as say, Naumachia's Wrathorn. I hope they sort it out (like Omnium Gatherum have after a few average albums) because the potential is indeed there for these guys.

Something tells me I am going to disagree with this review. Their last album was one of the better melodeath releases of that year, and I refuse to believe that they've gone down the shitter in the period of one album.

I'm getting a hold of this one. I'll post my thoughts later.

Esiel... Omnium Gatherum improved? Since when? After their first album everything I heard was awful. I say that as a huge melodeath fan.

Years in Waste was indeed crap, mostly because of the vocals. Stuck Here on Snake's Way had a few good songs but lacked substance so I agree, these albums were not very good at all. Have you heard the latest one, The Redshift? A friend played it for me and I could have sworn it was a different band. Much closer to Spirits than the last two.. finally a good vocalist and the knack for melody is back, too.

That's just my opinion, of course. But if like me, you gave up after the disaster that was Years in Waste and haven't heard The Redshift, you really need to check it out! If they keep that way, we may get really good albums from them after all. :)

Dunno if I've heard that one, I'll have to get a hold of it. I gave up after the other two albums they released.

I finally got a hold of this and was terribly disappointed. I really loved the sound and style they had going on their first album but this just feels sort of generic. I blame Nordstrom.

I also felt is was sort of generic on the first two listens,
but then I started hearing some riffs I didn't catch or pay attention to at first. The album has grown on me quite a bit these past few days, maybe it has to do with my mood who knows!

as of now I'd give The Cancer Empire a 75% rating
with highlights being Slaughter is Passion and Termination Process.
