Now those are big lists, (yes mostly thrash, get over it) and I am not expecting anybody to read each and every list, nor do I expect everybody to have heard each of those albums, but I want to know what year do you think was better for metal. 1985 or 1986. Both years were huge for thrash, plus it was the real early years of black and death metal. Not to mention all the kick ass straight up heavy metal. It is almost impossible for me to pick one of the two years, so I will wait to see what other people to say and see if I agree or disagree with them.

Anyway, both years kicked ass. :dio:

Yes yes, both years were great years for metal.
I'd go with 1986 because there weren't any studio Iron Maiden in 1985.

Back then, a year without an Iron Maiden album was a sad year... :sad:

They needed time to tour the world.

At least in 1985 they started writing one of the best metal albums ever.

I still like the first four albums better than Somewhere in Time though.

Ho, and, no Metallica album in 1985. Master of Puppets in 1986!!! :dio:

And there were no Judas Priest album in 1985 either.
I know Turbo's supposed to be a bad album but I still like it... Image

Ok, it's a live album, but everybody back them was happy with it.

I vote for 1985, but both were incredible years.

Yeah, it's a live album... Nothing like the excitement of having new songs from the band.

Mainly because when I got into metal, it was with a lot of the CDs from 86, and for some reason, not as many of the CDs from 85.

Now from that list, I'd say that I regularly listen to about 0 of them, and occasionally perhaps 10 or so.

I at least listen to, well too many to count.

Almost all of them get continued spins for me.

I'm a death metal kind of guy you know! I would guess that the CDs that spin the most for me are either from 92-96, or new shit.

I'd probably go with 86, as there were more albums released that I like than in 85.
