Listened to the new Lamb Of God. Overall thought it was good. They're getting better at staying consistently interesting for a whole album, rather than having some awesome riffs then tedious and dull songs placed around them, like earlier stuff.

The truth about ISIS is that they are really, really boring, but pretentious arses pretend to like them because they present themselves as being all clever clever and post rock and shit.

Meh, crap argument; with a few changes it could be made about Nachtmystium, Opeth, Cynic, Mourning Beloved, Earth... it depends on perspective. You're a long-term hater of Isis, so you'll use an argument like pretentiousness even though you like other music that could be considered pretentious. It all comes down to personal taste; I don't see how Cult Of Luna are better than Isis, they're different bands, doing different things. One goes for beauty, one goes for crushing and epic.

Pretentiousness is a rubbish argument at the best of times. I'm currently listening to Bruce Dickinson singing Jerusalem. Pretentious? Depends on how you look at it, I see it as awesome. Presumably you have no argument with Mr Bruce Awesome Dickinson, so you won't sling that particular insult - but it could apply to him just as easily as Isis.

Not liking a band clearly has more possible explanations than being stupid, sure. But are you prepared to admit that it's a crap argument and could be applied to any band that has an intellectual aura?

Opeth, Nachtmystium, Mars Volta, damn right, if Isis makes people pretentious why not other bands? You don't like the idea because bands you like are being attacked.

But seriously Mars Volta are pretentious. Don't forget to add every black metal band besides Immortal, most death metal and anything technical/progressive to your list.
