The image is too big, so simply click the link. It's awesome btw. :D

Not sure if it has been mentioned but a new Primal Fear album is due in may 09 called:

16.6 (Before the Devil Knows You're Dead)

The new Primal Fear album titled with the codename of “16.6” (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead) will be released in May 2009 by Frontiers Records.

It'd be really stupid if that is the name of the album.

yeah... it seems like that's the case, eh. Anyway, after the total miss that was their latest, I'm curious on what Magnus Karlsson brings to the band.

I'm pretty sure he helped write some of the songs on New Religion, so I don't expect a drastic change if he is once again involved in songwriting.

A statement from Ralph the day Magnus officially joined the band.
Quote:
Singer Ralf Scheepers comments: "After working together with Magnus on several songs for our previous albums „Seven Seals" and "New Religion", it's more than a pleasure to have him in the band now. In my ears he is one of the most talented guitarists on this planet and he is also an excellent composer. I absolutely look forward to rock the stages of this world with him!"

Here is what the band has to say about the new album.
Quote:
The new songs will include a lot of the Wolter/Sinner/Scheepers vibe from the “Nuclear Fire” album, then follow the path of “New Religion” and some real surprises! Mat Sinner comments: “I'm really proud of our work. The guys of the band and the entire team did a killer job! I love the crystal clear sound of the album and total dedication of the players. The fans of our first albums will really love the new tracks, plus there are a lot of sophisticated more stuff on 16.6 following the path of Seven Seals or New Religion“

Two songs in and this could be Album Of The Year material. Totally digging the more psychedelic sound.

The new Static X album is really boring. The vocals which are usually the dynamic part of the songs are just monotonous and dull. The riffs and solos are getting better but they just aren't extraordinary enough to overcome the boring vocals. The guy named two fucking songs after his ugly pornstar wife. WTF.

Hm, can't say expectations were high here. Maybe I'll rip it a new one in a slow week.

And I've never got this 'marry a porn star' business. Being a porn star doesn't mean that she'll be any better at it, and then there's the whole 'marry' bit.

Right, further thoughts on Crack The Skye after one full listen:

First half is the best stuff they've done yet, second half seems a bit wobbly (although, as with a lot of Leviathan, it could be a grower) until The Last Baron picks things up again.

It's quite interesting how Brann seems to have reined it in considerably, while the guitars are now doing more than they ever did before.

Did anyone else notice the weird Primus-y riffs that cropped up on The Czar and The Last Baron?

Vocals overall have changed for the better, although a few growls wouldn't go amiss.

I'll save a final judgement for when I've listened more and have it on CD.

Hopefully it's as good as the first was.

Sigh. Really? Mastodon? I'll never understand it, I guess.
