i'm not sure if they're the absolute worst, but Aiden, Brain Drill, A Pleasant Shade of Grey, Anthony Green, Zach Hill & Mick Barr, Scab Dates, Septic Flesh, The Anatomy Of, Bring Me The Horizon's first one, Miles Davis's Live-Evil crap from the 70s, and Alestorm are definitely up there

But they dress like pirates and sing about pirate things

It's ok to not like (who I am kidding, no it's not) but to say they are your top 10 worst? Nigga please.

Dude, I'm all ok with being unconventional, but those aren't just classics, those are fantastic albums!

Yeah, I know. Except I'm not big on Pleasure To Kill and Kings of Metal.

Even after I post this, which clearly says I was joking, people are still fretting.

The Brutal Truth and Deicide are two of my favourite grindcore and death metal albums respectively. And all the rest but Pleasure to Kill and Kings of Metal I'm a fan of.

I just posted it to get reactions. And it did its job. it's like that with any metal site, you post that you don't like some of their favourites, and then you basically have the entire site against you.

As for my real top ten worst, I couldn't be bothered thinking up a real list, and even if I did, it would once again be vastly different to everyone elses. I'm not going to bother thinking up my top 10 best either, because I know for fact that there will be albums on there that a lot of you will hate, and that would give you all retarded reason to not take me seriously in any discussions.

If you so must, here is my last.fm:

I don't think that kind of reaction is restricted to "metal sites" or metalheads. It goes with any genre of music whether it is pop, rap, jazz, country or what have you. Anyone who has all or most classics in their top 10 worst albums is bound to have people against them or immediately paying attention to their post. I guess it was more out of curiousity or surprise rather than disrespect for your personal taste that such a response was generated. Besides, I dint find any response offensive. Your list surprised me too leading me to think that you were joking. It just seemed so hard to believe that someone would have albums like those in their top 10 worst list. But I figured if I can have Kill Em All and Clandestine in my list, then it is possible for someone else to have Pleasure To Kill (one of my favs) in their list of worst albums.

But thats the thing, I was joking. I'm not fond of PTK or KOM though, but they wouldn't be in my top ten worst. The rest I like.

I visit punk (and pop punk), hardcore, and general music forums as well as metal ones, and based on my experience there, as well as with people in real life, there tends to be a much greater hostility generated in the metal scene when you talk in a negative light toward bands and albums they like, especially those who regard themselves as "true" metalheads. While it is present in the other genres' fanbase, it seems more common in the metal scene, less so amongst the younger fans into metalcore/deathcore, though.

Oh chillax, plenty of people here are into poser weakling non-metal music and get taken seriously. Christ, I mean Protest the Hero came in at No. 2 for best album of 2008

Why is being a "real" or "troo" metalhead such a bad thing?

Too hard to make a top 10 worst because I've heard so many terrible records... Here are some bands that strike me as being particularly execrable and an overwhelmingly negative force on the music world.

Dragonforce
Alestorm
Kaiser Chiefs

.... can't think of many more. These are the 3 bands that IMO fail the most.

Oh and we might have a go at Skekky but I remember from past discussions that Serpent is deadly serious when he says this

Entombed - Clandestine

Booooo, I say.

7.Def Leppard-X
8.Dokken-Dysfunctional
9.Stratovarius-Stratovarius
10.Iced Earth-Iced Earth

My list should be similar... (I put Tribe over OM2). I could add No prayer for the dying, or Ram it down... or The unspoken king.
There're worst records, of course, but I find more "bad" if a great band with the potential to perform a great album makes a bad album than if a really shit band doing a shit album.

Seriously, there is worse than St. Anger even. The problem is that we can't really judge what are the ten worst albums ever, but rather what are the ten albums that disappointed us the most.

Well i think all this is based on personal opinion. Sure, I've heard a few disappointing albums, but none were as bad as St. Anger, again it's just my opinion. I think it's difficult to sum up a proper list because all our opinions (might) differ.

EDIT: I think the reason St. Anger disappointed me A LOT is because the expectations I had for it. I was only 18 back then and when I heard 'it's back to the old Kill 'Em All sound', it just gave me sleepless nights. Of course when I heard it, it did give me sleepless nights, in a bad way.

I can't really quantify the volume of crap I've heard and the worst albums in any genre are always made by the most obscure bands, so my list wouldn't be interesting enough to post as it wouldn't start any wars.

'kvlt' is generally a synonym for 'awful.'

the exceptions are few.

The worst bands for me are the ones that cash in on mainstream "hur hur" factor to produce something slick and sellable but utterly devoid of any musical interest or understanding... hence seeing DF and Alestorm as worse than Woeful Grim Forestdweller or whoever.
