So Rampage won as I expected he would. But there was moments where Jardine could of took the fight over. But it was pretty obvious that he didn't want to exchange blows with Rampage that much. He should of used the leg kicks more. He barely used them in the 2nd round. He also should of tried to get the fight to the ground more. All in all a pretty blah fight. I don't like either Rashad or Rampage personally, but it will be one hell of a fight between them. I hope Rashad wins. But I was really hoping for an Evans vs. Machida fight...

That sucks about Frank Mir to. But hopefully he can get healthy and the fight with Lesnar will be epic. So does Lesnar not have to fight now until July?

Shane Carwin is a beast, he took 2 huge shots from Gonzaga and then knocked him out with a great punch. He didn't get off a big swing. That just shows you how strong he is. And did Mike say that his gloves are bigger than Lesnars? Thats crazy if it's true.

Matt Hamil is a beast. But are they seriously going to make a movie about him? That's just silly. I didn't know you needed to be able to hear to throw a punch... But my oh my, did he ever knock that guy out. Kinda reminds me of the kick Rashad gave to Sean Samon, or how ever you spell his name.

Brendon Vera looked good, but come on that guy he fought was a nobody.

I can't stand Kendall Grove. He doesn't deserve to have the nickname "The Spider".

I'm probably missing some stuff. But all in all UFC 96 was pretty good. I don't know though, if it was worth the 50$. But UFC 97 looks like it will be a good night. I wish I was going, but I don't have the time or the money. Even though it's sold out, I could still get tix.

My picks for UFC 97 will come closer to the date of the fight...

Agree with this. I wish Rampage would utilize his ground game, too. He should have just taken Jardine down and pounded on him. I think that would have worked more to his advantage.

Also, the fight will be Evans/Machida as I'm sure you know by now. Machida will win. I mean, of course it's MMA and Evans has a good chance as he's a solid fighter... But I think Machida will be too much. Evans will probably be far too confident in his stand up game, and try to knock out Machida. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if he does try to take Machida down and lay on him... Maybe use some solid GnP, but I can't say Evans has that good of a top game.

And yeah... I was amped that Carwin knocked out GG. I hope he continues to move his way up. :)

My favourite fighter is Mike Bisping, good North West lad there, and I've met him.

Can't watch it aaah, no Sky or Setanta.

Well it's over, and my picks were baaaaad.

And Silva has had two boring fights in a row, but I respect what he has done. I'll go into deeper later.

Someone needs to stop getting caught up in the hype of Silva and take him out. His antics in his last two fights are garbage. He has shown no killer instinct, on two opponents that were not willing to engage. They could have easily been wiped out.

Holding your hands in front of a fighter and dancing around does not win a fight. There were several times where Silva could have easily put some hurt on Leites, and instead he choose to goof around and land some kicks to Leites knees.

Disappointing.

What wasn't disappointing, was Shogun KOing Chuck. WOOOOO.

Chuck is done, maybe if St. Pierre beats Alves then GSP can be Liddells final fight (loss) in the UFC. I'm sure Strikeforce would throw a lot of money at him...

Speaking of GSP, man it was awesome when the chants started.

As for Silva, yeah that fight was shit and he should of engaged more. But come on, Leitis didn't do anyhting. Silva didn't want to take the fight to the ground and that's all Thales tried to do. Maybe Leitis should of tried harder to get SIlva on the ground instead of just lying there. There were a few moments where things kinda got interesting, but for the most part it was incredibly boring and overeall really poor. I think Joey Silva, matchmaker, should get into some sort of trouble for putting 2 defensive fighters in the cage at the same time. But oh well, I think that Silvas next fight will go one of two ways, he either dominates like we know he can or he gets knocked out.

+1 Leites fought like a pussy. If I saw him fall down and lay there waiting for Silva to mount him one more time, I was going to gouge my eyes out. Silva certainly didn't help matters, but damn Thales just was not going to allow the fight to pick up speed.

I agree about the matchmaker too. What was he thinking?

Who does Rua fight now (Wanderlei, Forrest again, Jardine...)? 205 is a clusterfuck.

I was saying to my dad that Rua should fight the winner of W.Silva vs. Franklin.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe the fight being retarded was anyone's fault but Anderson. He is an elite level fighter, capable of finishing his opponents in numerous ways. There were plenty of points in the fight where Leites was up against the cage, hands down, and Silva chose to dance around and paw at him instead of throwing strikes.

Leites is of no danger on the feet. Silva could have thrown combinations at any point to dismantle Leites and not have to worry about anything. Leites is no takedown artist, and may have only been dangerous in that aspect for a round or two.

It's no one's fault but Silva's, and soon enough, a fighter isn't going to buy the hype, and dismantle him. I think he's overrated, and too many fighters give him far too much respect. Henderson could have beat him, and I'd pick him to do so in a rematch.

As for Rua, I'd like to see him fight Bahna Cane, Vera, or Franklin at 205.

This about sums up Silva/Leites. Silva not committing.

When he's on form I'd say that Silva is one of the most dangerous men in the world.

He's on a 9 (now 10) fight winning streak and was about to tie Ortiz and Hughes for title defences(which he did). He doesn't have to come out guns blazing. He's one of the greatest MMA in the world, and Leitis is a bum. Silva did nothing, but why would he? Why would he risk his title and winning streak when Thales didn't want to do anything. The fight sucked, yes, but Silva needs somebody to come in and push him, not lie down on the mat every chance he gets. I guess those gifs don't exist though...

My thoughts exactly. Challenger, from the latin ( ) for "to challenge", not "to lie down and expect the champ to oblige".

Look, there were many points in the fight where Silva had a huge opening for offense on his feet, looked like he was going to take it, and took his hand back, danced around, or pawed, like in the gif I showed you.

This happened throughout the fight, particularly during many points when he had Leites up against the fence and could have put on a huge offense. Leites is of next to no danger on his feet, and I don't see him countering a decent combination of punches, especially when his hands were down.

Also, there was a period of time where Anderson was being up Leites on the ground, and Leites had no position. He just stands up, and then acts like it's Leites fault.

He could have finished the fight, many times. He didn't, he chose not to. He chose to throw stupid front kicks and dance and paw.

Yes, it sucks that Leites didn't show up. It sucked even more than Anderson couldn't put away a fighter who didn't show up, for a second time.

I guess that's the way I look at it. I've been watching MMA forever now, and this was one of the most ridiculous I've seen since early worked fights in Pride.

Man you have to admit those front kicks had to hurt the knee. Just looking at them hurt me.

I also have been watching MMA for a long time, I never was really into Pride but I do remember watching UFC 1 and 2 way back in the day. The fight sucked, but Silva needs to be pushed, not the one doing the pushing.
