I don't want to be a bitch, but this isn't a major event. I'm enjoying the album very much, Slough Feg has yet to disappoint me. Their style is quite unique, and I thank them for that.

Ay, agreed.
Surprise of the month maybe but no way it is a major event.

I have yet to hear the entire album, but the title track is hands down the best metal song of the year so far. What an amazing song! :dio:

Slough Feg are easily the best metal band in North America, if not the whole world, so this is pretty major event. i've only listened to this about three times, but so far i'd say it's up there with their best material.

Better than Hardworlder? I love that album, but Down Among the Deadmen is still my favorite.

yeah, it's a little heavier than Hardworlder, which i like, even though i didn't mind the softer sound they were going for on that one. it's a lot more immediately gripping than Hardworlder; the first five or ten times i listened to that album, i only really remembered "Tiger! Tiger!" and the two covers. with Ape Uprising there's a lot more songs that stick right away (pretty much all of them)

Can't make a surprise of the month of a band that has released loads of albums and has been around for twenty years. That award is only for debuts. And, I hate to disagree with ye, but in the metal underground this is a pretty major event. Surely nothing like new Maiden or whatever, but still.

I agree with everyone this isn't a major event since SF isn't really huge compared to bands like Judas Priest.

They should be they produced some pretty solid albums.

But they should be and its stupid to discredit them as not major just because they aren't as well heard of.

Anyways, this album is fucking amazing. Lacks some of the hooks as previous stuff. This album is solid.

So everyone loves DAtD and looked down on Hardworlder and Atavism? Traveller's my favorite and Atavism has some of their best songs.

This album is amazing I agree on that, but I dont think this can be considered a "major event".

I know the distinction isnt really clear of what a "major event" really is, but although Slough Feg are a very good metal band, they just arent up there with Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth etc. "Suprise of the month" would suit this album better.

Otherwise great review and brilliant album.

It can't be "Surprise of the Month", because isn't surprise at all that Slough Feg delivers the goods. Album of the Month would've been fine.

Again, it's a major event because it's a highly anticipated release for an undergrouind band. Will not change it, so lets discuss the album. And if Lacuna Coil's newest is a major event, then this is also...

I have to say I like this better than Hardworlder as of now. As Noodles pointed out, every song here stuck after one listen, while Hardworlder took a couple of more spins. Down among the Deadmen is still my favorite though, with this as a close second. Never enjoyed Atavism that much even though that one is great too.

Just to add my two cents to the 'Major Event' debate, I personally wouldn't have given it that tag. Lacuna Coil deserved it, being a much bigger and more famous band - major events aren't necessarily proof of a good album, although that's clearly not the case here. :D

Are they seriously that much bigger?

To be honest with y'all, I made this a major event because, surprise of the month=no... An Album of the Month would fit, but because that one has been handed out from me already, I decided not to do it. It could even be album of the year, but I figured that's too early.

I figured I'd make it a Major Event because it really is one. True, no commercial major event, but still something that will not go unheard of in the underground.

And no, I still won't change it. PM me if you have something else to add. Discuss the album now, suckazz. And Zad, check this out ASAP.

Ok, valid argument.

And this is indeed a great album though, after the two times I've played it, I still think Attavism is their finest.

EDIT:
One thing I really like is how it's not trying to be anything else than it is: a retro-metal album. Even its length is perfect for that matter.
God! I'm bored with 60 minutes long albums that have just 40 minutes of good music and fillers just to be long enough to fit recording industry's standards.

For me is a major event... not sure still if it's better than Atavism or Twilight Of The Idols (my fav from them) but it's really great... and Ape Uprising (the song) is one hell of a song.
