If it wasn't for his controversial attitude I doubt for a second he would be famous as he is now because he surely can't carry a tune if his life depended on it.

Of course. That's how it goes. His character is bigger than the music, but it only works because the music is good as well. Without talent, you get dipshits like Perez Hilton

I would like someone to murder that idiot. Man, I'd go gay for a night just so I could violently rape him.

I never thought much of Manson's music, but he deserves respevt for what he has accomplished over the years, and all the controversial events he's caused, that has been somewhat important in my eyes for the acceptance of harsher music...

I'll never forget when he said no to play here because he wasnt allowed to hand dead cow-carcasses from the roof OR cut dead sheep open with a chain-saw during the show.

Being controversial is nothing to be respectful of. Manson's hardly the first rocker to do shocking things. Come on, Thomas, Mayhem?Without a bunch of Christians making him infamous, he'd be the answer to an obscure trivia question by now.

Probably his ability to write insanely catchy songs has something to do with it too.

Mayhem are catchy. If you're in a certain mood, admittedly.

Come on, that's an inane comparison and you know it.

Ha, probably. Fine; the only reason Manson gets tolerated is because of the artistic nature to his persona, the extremity for extremity's sake thing. An absence of message or meaning can still be artistic, after all. Still doesn't mean that I want to go and look at exhibitions of urinals.

And he's not insanely catchy.

I always thought Manson was more of a visual artist than a sonic one. His music videos are bloody brilliant. And I doubt it's "extremity for extremity's sake", it's something more complex and far-reaching.

Yeah, I agree with you.. I am however a "fan" of provocation, and when I got into metal, he was sorta the first one I heard of who had fired up all the conservative christians.

Manson isn't catchy he's nothing but a showman that's all. Now if you want showmanship with catchy go listen to early Alice Cooper.

Exactly. Manson is for posers, his schtick is tiresome, all that almost Satanist image he has is just so the MTV 'rockers' can feel hardcore while listening to his albums. Probably how Frigid get spinning this between Nickleback and (Jesus fucking Christ) Mudvayne.

Alice Cooper and King Diamond (the next logical step) are way, way superior.

He's entertaining, and his music is catchy and fun. That's all I care about.

What's wrong with Mudvayne??

I love that just because someone gets on MTV doing what other people are doing just better he becomes "for posers". And by the way, I own every single Alice Cooper album and listen to King Diamond too.

+1. If liking him makes me a "poser," so be it, I don't care.

i differ with this opinion in that I find Rammstein to be very very boring compared to other bands in a similar genre.
