Diary of the Dead

Wasn't really scary, but I like how it actually felt like what it was trying to be, just a short segment of a mass event as seen through the eyes of the students, ending just as abruptly as it started.

So my Romero zombie films now rank:

1. Dawn
2. Diary
3. Land

and i've yet to see Night and Day.

For some reason I greatly disliked that movie. "Oooh yes the two little American girls come to Europe and get swept up by the great Iberian casanova who teaches them all about sex and love and living life and whatnot." Pfft.

Hm, I think maybe we are thinking of different films... Zombie Lake doesn't even have that to redeem it IIRC.

There is a lot of Zombie Porn though... anyone interested could try Erotic Nights of the Living Dead, and Porno Holocaust.

Night and Day will certainly push Diary and Land out of the top three when you see them. :)

If you enjoyed Diaries, look for something called "The Zombie Diaries"... It's a British equivalent (but it was actually made before Diaries, so not a rip off!). It's filthier and more harrowing, and grimmer too.

I didn't really like Day of the Dead. The original Night and the remake are both amazing. Rio, are you more partial to the original Dawn or the remake? I think I'd go with the original but so many people I know prefer the remake.

I watched Them! in class the other day.

the remake is for deviants; fast zombies is a stupid idea and it takes away the creeping menace that the original has.

zack snyder is a hack.

Yeah, absolutely agree with Dead Machine on the Dawn of the Dead question.

99.9% of the time, I hate horror remakes. The new Dawn could have been fun as some kind of horror-action film released under a different name, but it totally missed the point of the original.

Zombies should be slow. You lose the immediate action feel, but it's the difference between something jumping out at you and shouting "boo!", versus a creeping, inevitable dread that you can evade for a while but which will get you eventually.... or else leave you alone in a world that's utterly empty and pointless.

I liked it, but it was mostly because of the visuals/hot women/good acting/scenery/music. Most of the "oh gosh, what is love?" dialogue bugged me, and the voiceovers were really bad and unnecessary.

Darfur Now. Go see this movie and be inspired to help humanity. I feel so bad that I don't do more to help people in need.

I've seen that in blockbuster, I'll check it out next time i'm in. Filthy, harrowing and grim horror is defo how I like it haha.

Just picked up Resi Evil: Extinction for cheap, I liked it when I saw it a while ago. Nothing overly spectacular but it was entertaining.

Some of those hairstyles were purely 70's-tastic.
