So I was listening to a song and at some part, I got the idea that it must be one of my favorite moments in music. Then I started thinking of other ones. Then I got the idea for this thread. So just name a few (5-10) of your favorite moments in music, and maybe it'll inspire some other person to go check it out and find that it kicks ass.

I'll start it off

7:25 in Yndi Halda--Illuminate My Heart, My Darling
5:30 in Godspeed You! Black Emperor--Antennas to Heaven
Intro in Between the Buried and Me--Prequel to the Sequel
8:55 in Converge--Jane Doe
4:20 in Gojira--From the Sky
3:27 in Mastodon--Colony of Birchmen
2:50 in Protest the Hero--Bloodmeat

Anybody else?

The thrash break after the solo in Pleasure to Kill is amazing. When I was in school me and my mate used to say it was the best headbanging riff ever.

Death-Evil Dead Solo 1:33
Suffocation-Torn Into enthrallment (the best death metal song ever created)
Venom-Sons of Satan (that intro is so raunchy and unpolished I love it)
Bathory-The intro to Blood, fire, and death reminds me of going to war
Behemoth-Demigod(that horn intro reminds me of armies preparing for battle)
Mayhem-The solo in freezing moon
The Black Dahlia Murder-when Trevor is reading how to harvest the human body for cannibalism and that intro is fucking sick (Unhallowed)
Blut Aus Nord-Slaughterday (this heathen blood of ours) 0:44 when it moves from the synth intro into the Monastic chants of the song.
Converge-Heaven in her arms 1:12 that melodic break reminds of me sailing the ocean for some reason
Cryptopsy-Phobophile (the piano intro and then the thrash break followed by Lord Worm's scream)
Cryptopsy-Graves of the father's the breakdowns and the groove of that song make me want to fuck someone up
Suffocation-Infecting the crypts that intro riff
Kreator-Enemy of god intro
Kreator-Pleasure to kill intro
Anything Moonspell has ever done

these are just a few i can think of

Yeah, I get chills down my spine whenever I hear it.
Come to think of it, that entire track absolutely shreds.

That bit in Pink Floyd's "Us And Them" when he becomes a lot more emotional and sings something like "No one could know...". Always gives me a chill.

Awesome song...
Floyd is one of the all time Greats... heavier than a headful of 'ludes, yet light as a cloud. Yeah, Floyd is the musical equivalent to a shot of pure heroin.
David Gilmour. ' Nuff said.

wow this is pretty hard. can't remember the exact timing of all. I'll use the lyrics.

The piano intro to Phobophile, indeed, and the bass after that. Always awesome.

Funeral Mist - Agnus Dei (3:58) - "In those days men shall seek death, and shall not find it, and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them."

Funeral Mist - Perdition's Light (3:35) One of the best riffs ever.

Blut Aus Nord - Our Blessed Frozen Cells (4:15) Some eerie noises followed by the most amazing ambient melody.

Deathspell Omega - Sola Fide II - "SOLA FIDE! SOLA DEO! INFERNALI GLORIA!"

Bolt Thrower - At First Light - First riff. One of the best and most groovy riffs ever.

Keep of Kalessin - The Black Uncharted - The flamenko breakdown.

Ulver - Bergtatt - Ind i Fjeldkamrene - The whole song is probably the best thing I've ever heard.

Ulver - Wolf and Fear - The acoustic bit in the middle. Gives me chills every fucking time.

Vital Remains - Dechristianize (2:26). Hard to believe how someone managed to put one of the most beautiful melodies into one of the fastest and most brutal songs ever. Dave Suzuki is god.

Oooooh yes!

The version on that "Death by Metal" demo is even better IMO... just faster, and more violent.

Best DM song ever IMO.

every deathspell omega song has a memorable moment.
I hate newer Vital Remains but that melody for the song Dechristianize is a contrast to how intense the song is, not to mention it would be good for a metal pileup. :dio:

HOW THE FUCK DID I FORGET

Slayer
--------------------
When Raining Blood kicks in and the shit hits the fan.
The whole thrash break in Angel of Death-the whole mid section of that song is thrash perfection, fucking awesome.

Wow, how the hell did I forget that shit?

- 5:08 in Ulver's 'Gnosis' - "Science, the new aristocracy..."
- Winds' 'Theory of Relativity', the whole thing.
- The chorus of Blind Guardian's "Time Stands Still"
- Boards of Canada's "Roygbiv" - Most of the album before it is relatively dark, and this is so uplifting.
- Celtic Frost's "Domain of Decay", when the main riff kicks in.
- The first second of Converge's "Thaw"
- Slowdive's "Dagger" It's the only acoustic song on the album, and it's just really special.
- 1:31 in Aesop Rock's "None Shall Pass" - "Miles outside of the eye of the storm with a siphon to lure out the prize and reward while avoiding the vile and bizarre that is violence and war...!

And that's just scratching the surface, for me.

Aesop Rock always blows my mind with his lyrics. There's that one damn line in Citronella "Double park the shuttle, some will arc the funneled cutty sark where budding narcs target the gushing heart in the muddy clark," it's ridiculous. I love it.

The first two or three minutes of La Dispute's The Last Lost Continent. They are the best. Also the last few minutes of De-Loused in the Comatorium. It's hard to come up with precise moments in songs that I love because usually it's a whole song or a whole album that will make me think "fuck yes!!"

First moment that came to mind is the very end of Opeth's White Cluster.
When Gojira goes From Mars To Sirius.
First 6 and a half minutes of Godspeed You's Storm might be the best moment in music I've ever experienced.
The bass solo in Gorgut's Nostalgia.
First 1 and a half minute on Arsis A Diamond for Disease.
The first 45 seconds are damn tight in Augury's Aetheral.
The Axis of Perdition - A Ruined Nation Awakens. "It was us that scorched the sky". Then all heal breaks fucking loose!
Diabolical Masquerade - Fleeing From Town. Jawdropping flippin riffs!
The intro on Amon Amarth's With Oden on our side.
The whole song is a masterpiece but Draconian - Death, Come Near Me from 9.10 to 11.50 are simply stunning.
Equilibrium's Mana. Hard to pick one moment of this epic, but the final outro from 15.10 is extraordinary.
Explosions in the Sky - It's Natural To Be Afraid 9.17 and onward.
Hammers Of Misfortune - The Locust Years. The smashing introduction.
Into on Hate Eternal - Hell Envenom. BLOW THE SPEAKERZ!
In Vain - Their Spirits Ride with the Wind. 4.20 - 5.12.
The Ocean - Isla Del Sol. 6.20 to the end.
Persefone - Underworld (The Fallen And The Butterfly). The first three minutes are on par with Arsis, if not better.
Pin-up went down - Cadavre Exquis. In these 4 minutes the song character 5-6 times atleast. Stunning.
Robotosaurus - A Shadow Over Hope. First 16 seconds is an truly intense bliss.
Suspyre - Galactic Backward Movements. This song is a prog metal dream and when the guitars jumps on at 2.58 you're in for a real treat that just keeps going, with the highlight of a saxophone entry at six minutes.
Unexpect - The shiver: Meet me at the carrousel. Mindblowing all the way really, and divine around 2 minutes when the maniac intro comes back in the middle of it all.

Now for some famous Opeth "returns in songs moments":
Master's Apprentices. 7.45 to the end.
The Baying of the Hounds. 5.20 - 7.28.
To Bid You Farewell. 7.05 to the end. Immortal riffs.
Face of Melinda. 4.35 - 6.40.
The Lotus Eater. 5.50 to the end.

And many moar.

Edit: Didnt realize it had become such a big list. Oh well.

Just a random one from the song I'm listening to now:

Architects - They'll Be Hanging Us Tonight - The part that kicks in from 00:29 - 00:55. The riff is just plain fucking awesome.
