haha, Evil Dead is neither corny nor goofy, it is nothing but pure awesomness. That scene where Ash is ankle deep in blood and a band-aid tin floats by is gold.
Bad Taste is a comedy and I laughed my ass off.
If I'm not mistaken, isn't that directed by the same dude that did the LOTR's trilogy?

It is indeed. Quite a career he's had.

Yeah, I'm always on the lookout for new horror films, but I don't see anything coming out that's as good as the classics. I was optimistic when they started making stuff like Wolf Creek and the Descent a few years back, like a new wave of proper horror. But we seem to have degenerated again into a lot of copycat films.

Not all bad, though; Eden Lake, Martyrs, to name a couple.

The thing is, it's all been done already. All that's left are new twists and stylish cinematography.
One of the worst movies in recent times is House of 1000 Corpses;
blatant rip-off (some say homage, I say rip-off), goofy cinematography (it reminded me of some of the goofy shit they used on that dreadful TV show Walker: Texas ranger, haha)...
I'll take a second rate Italian Horror film like The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave over anything going these days any time, thank you very much.

Yeah, that's exactly it.... there's nowhere else to go.

I mean, there SHOULD be somewhere else to go. It's just that nobody's bothered to find it. It's all retreads of what has been done before.

I saw Goodfellas last night. Very interesting movie. Reminds me of Pulp Fiction.

Goodfellas is great. So are the Evil Deads. I'm quite the fan of horror comedies, though. Dead Alive is probably one of my favorite movies. Re-Animator and From Beyond are great too.

Also, Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky is amazing. It's kind of like a martial arts film, only in place of any actual martial arts they decided to insert completely over-the-top violence.

I just actually watched the trailer, and by god does it look fucking terrible. Like League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I hope it crashes and burns and ruins that Madonna-marrying fuck for life.

It looks like it could be good, but I don't really think of comedy when I think of Sherlock Holmes, which they kinda seem to be going for. I also never thought of Holmes like a crazy, live-on-the-edge type of hero...which they also seem to be going for. Maybe I haven't actually read enough Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

On a side note, Downey Jr. is badass...I can't think of why you wouldn't like him after Iron Man and Tropic Thunder.

Downey and Rachel McAdams are great for their individual reasons, but Guy Ritchie and Jude Law and turning Sherlock Holmes into that nonsense can all get fucked.

Just watched The Weather Underground.

Very depressing, in a way.

The Descent is a good movie. It had me freaked out a couple of years ago. After watching it that night with a friend, I stayed over, 'cause there was no way in hell someone could get me to walk (read: run as fast as I could) home alone in the dark. :D

Ha ha. Apparently a dude from my country went to see the movie Mama Mia 162 times on cinema. And within the last 5 years he has seen 5000 movies (not counting how many times he has seen each one over and over). Over 200.000 Norwegian Kroner used on tickets... can't beat that, lol

Jeez. That's like 3 movies a day... I could see doing that for a short period of time, like a week where I had nothing to do, but not for 5 years. o.o

Taken - Liam Neeson will fly from the west and destroy Paris in a night. So badass.

The wrestler - very good, Marissa Tomei tits are always nice.

It - I always liked this movie/miniseries even if it takes some liberties from the book, wich is my favourite Stephen King book along with The Stand, i know it doesnt comes close but i enjoyed it.

Hellraiser - the first movie is a classic IMO.

Planet Terror - as tribute to the exploitation films of the 70's i guess it was ok, i know its not a movie to take it seriously but i didnt laugh either.

Star Trek

Wow, I never thought I would enjoy a Star Trek movie as much as I did. Fantastic.

I need to watch more of Miike's movies. Sukiyaki Western Django was such a beautifully entertaining mix of retarded and awesome. We have Audition where I work so I'll probably bring that home sometime.

So who's seen Angels and Demons yet? I'm debating whether or not to go.
