Bah. I was hoping the Magic would win.

One reason I don't watch basketball is because it's LAKERS LAKERS LAKERS LAKERS LAKERS all the time. I thought that maybe another team might win, and that that team might be from my area, but that's just asking too much, I guess.

Pau is the man! He is so lanky and awkward, but somehow he makes it work.

I was a little tipsy when I made this thread, but now I can say, I am extremely happy LA won. I've been a Laker fan since I was young. I'm also glad Cleveland didn't make it to the finals. It just shows how overrated the Eastern Conference is.

I'm going to start a thread the next time our local fiefdom win at the Lords' Conkers Championship. Yes.

Van Gundy is a fat idiot.
Magic should have won match 4 if the man had more sense.
Fire the fat idiot !

:(

I hate the Lakers. Everyone is saying that now it legitimizes Kobe and Phil Jackson, but I still think it's bullshit--the Grizzlies did GIVE the Lakers Pau Gasol. If that trade wasn't so ridiculously lopsided, I don't think the Lakers win this year.

Yeah, and if they played Boston with Garnet we'd be having a different discussion.

Indeed, we'd be congratulating the Celtics. ^^

If the final had been Lakers-Celtics (with Garnett), we wouldn't be congratulating anyone now, the final would be still 3-2 (or 2-3) :)

I think the Lakers weren't as good as last year... It could very well have been a sweep.

Actually I think with Bynum they add a whole new dynamic. They are a lot better this year and I also think the playoffs would still be going if it was LA vs. Celtics (w/ Garnet).

Bynum didn't play a single good game in the finals.

Neither the celtics (with Garnett, in regular season) were as dominant or victory hungry as last year.

And Gasol defense is far better than last year.

There's no doubt Gasol has improved defensively. Still with Garnett on his back, I doubt he would have been as good as he was in the finals.

Also, I think the real MVP of the finals is not Bryant but Fisher.
