Much love for Apocalypse Now.

Knowing. Cage + Sci-fi + Doomsday story = me like. As Blade pointed out, the special effects are staggering and really hits ya in the face.

The three Underworld movies sucks big time. It's exactly the kind of movies I avoid.

The Shining is a masterpiece. Jack+Kubrick=awesomeness.

Agreed to both points. Watched the first two Underworld films and even as mindless entertainment they're fucking terrible.

Apocalypse Now is great too, but I prefer Full Metal Jacket in 'Nam-film terms.

Full Metal Jacket = Apocalypse Now
Kubrick > Coppola
The part with the fatty guy being destroyed by soaps is funny and sad at the same time
Both movies have really interesting points of view about 'Nam. What about Platoon, with Defoe, and Sheen jr.? What's with the Sheen family doing war films :P?

To my shame, Platoon lies unwatched on my DVD shelf. Just not got around to it yet.

Yeah, but Jack Nicholson played Jack Torrance all wrong.
He was supposed to be a tragic character that was desperately overwhelmed by the circumstances in his life and his alcoholism, not a leering, drooling psycho.

Didn't knew that, but I guess I prefer Jack doing a psycho than a sad, pussy character. Which reminds me of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. One of my fav. Jack's movies.

I like Underworld 1 and 2!

That's because you're a true metalhead, and senseless killing between vampires and werewolves with no fucking story suits you well.

Bah, even Bill Nighy couldn't save them.

Well, in the book Torrance is hardly a sad pussy, he is a man that is burdened the fact that alcohol and a bad temper derailed his life. The fact that he kicks the booze only adds to this pressure.
You really should read the book, it is one of Kings better ones.

As for R.P. McMurphy; I don't see how he is a sad pussy-like character... just the opposite in fact.
Again, the book is superior by far to the movie.

I don't know... The Shining book is much more of a ghost story, and the supernatural plays a much bigger role in Torrance's descent into madness. They hint at that in the movie, but I like the direction Kubrick took it in too.

And no point comparing Kubrick and Coppola- they're two of the best directors of all time who have made some of the best movies of all time. Kubrick has A Clockwork Orange, 2001, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove... Coppola has Apocalypse Now, the first two Godfathers, and the best version of Dracula. Amazing stuff from both of them.

What did you expect from the movies? I wouldn't think they'd have anything more than Kate Beckinsale in tight leather + fighting between vampires and werewolves and hell, the stuff other than that (the love story) is fucking annoying and should fuck right off.

Yeah... I Watched Falling Down back when I was like 10.. Haven't seen it since, but I remember finding it pretty strange if not a little disturbing back then.

It's an okay movie, even if a bit strange as you stated. Never had a huge thing for Michael Douglas but he's the right man for that role.

It's called Twilight, what do you think?
