Just imagine captain Luke handing the cup to assistant captain Brayden.

Didn't I tell you to update the Canes-fans among us as well Nut-face?

Sounds like the Oilers got a steal in Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson. Most mock drafts I've read had him higher then 10. Some I've read even between 3rd and 5th.

DevotedWalnut, what did you think of Burke's comments to Bryan Murray:

:D

I thought that was funny, even if Kadri is a flop. Just to know we got something the Sens wanted makes up for it.

Rights of Jay-Bo for the rights of Leopold and a 3rd thrown in for good measure.

I hate all the racists that have come out the wood work after Kane going 4th and Kadri going 7th.

But my dad did make a funny. He said Kane should be playing basketball, I loled.

Rutherford says that, the player I thought would be set in stone for seasons to come, Chad LaRose is on his way out via trade. Negotiations with both him and Cole has halted, as well as Seidenberg leaving... It'll be interesting to see who'll come in for those first two. LaRose is one of my favorites, so it'll be all kinds of sad to see him leave.

Free agency soon! I'm hoping the Kings can snag Hossa, Gaborik or Havlat. Unfortunately so does every other team and the Kings aren't that appealing for free agents yet.

Give us Schenn, and Hossa will sign with you. You don't want Gaborik, he is made of glass. Same with Havlat.

Huh.... Gainey, I'm becoming less and less convinced you know what you're doing. Gomez is an expensive and inconsistent player... Did I mention he's expensive? And that you have 11 UFAs to deal with? And that he's on a 6 year contract and that unless he exceeds expectations, it will be impossible to deal him to another team?

apparently his contract averages to 6.7 million for the rest of his contract so it isn't as bad as first reported. Still not convinced he'll be the impact player we're searching for.

Doesn't matter, the cap hit will remain the same at 7.4 or whatever million bucks.

Absolutely BRUTAL trade for Montreal. Sorry, but they're out of their minds. I'm pissed someone actually helped the Rangers with their salary cap woes and didn't let them pay for offering such ridiculous contracts. Not only that, Montreal actually gave up big assets to get the deal done! A young forward with upside and their best prospect. I'm completely blown away.

Oh and Bouwmeester signs a 5 year deal with Calgary. Ugh. They've got a killer defensive unit, gonna be hard to compete with that.

I'm pretty sure the average is what counts for the salary cap

As if Montreal traded Ryan McDonagh! That's crazy. Easily one of their best prospects.

As for Jay-Bo in Calgary. SWEET! Now the market for Kaberle will be high. Thank you Calgary and Philly for that.

Quote:
A two-time Stanley Cup winner with the New Jersey Devils, Gomez was a blockbuster free agent signing for the Rangers in the summer of 2007. Gomez is signed through 2013-2014, at a salary cap hit of more than $7.35-million, so he represents a significant investment.

to answer all your cap hit questions

Devils re-sign Johnny Oduya. A report in the Newark Star-Ledger had the new deal pegged as a multi-year contract worth about $3-million per season.

According to SportsNet, the trade has happened. Dany Heatley is now a Edmonton Oiler.

Apparently, Heatly refused the trade, he has a non trade clause....
