To be honest, I'm not that excited by the studio album so wasn't following its progress at all. I just got an email from Relapse about Atheist streaming, didn't even read it, just though "ha ha now I can make Goat jealous at MR.com". The rest is history.

Well, I know that some people out there get more excited about live albums than new studio albums, so I thought I'd better check you weren't one of those poor deluded fools, in my usual roundabout way.

It seems that Immortal's new album is confirmed for September 25th... Can't freakin' wait. Honestly, at least for me, unless they screw it up royally, it'll be my album of the year out of fanboyism.

I don't expect anything great from this. It sounds like early Sonata/Stratovarius.

Actually I'm excited. Those samples sounded cute. I just want more solos from Jani.

I wish bands would make a fucking effort on the cover art. That just looks amateurish.

considering there's two ex-members of Sonata and Stratovarius' singer I wouldn't expect less... lol

For some reason Timo's voice sounds better than on Strato's newest release: Polaris

I'm just getting tired of hearing the same Stratovarius influenced power metal. Sonata Arctica and Thunderstone developed their own sound over the years, so that's what I'm hoping Cain's Offering would do too. Jani should know better than copy his old band if he wants to stand out, and with Kotipelto singing no less.

Oh, man, ffs. Threat Signal. God.

In other news, the new Behemoth has unbelievable drumming. Not sure about the songs yet, I assume it's a grower, but the drumming is  . My jaw dropped at least twice. Sounds more back-to-basics than Apostasy, but I could be wrong, this is all initial impressions.

I hope they're still good with all the line-up changes since their debut.

I thought the first Threat Signal was pretty badass.

Rio! Skunk Anansie have a new song out for their forthcoming best-of. The bad news is that it's a bit rubbish.

"Raleigh, North Carolina-based progressive metalcore quintet BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME has set "The Great Misdirect" as the title of its new album, due on October 27 via Victory Records.

The track listing is as follows:

01. Mirrors
02. Obfuscation
03. Disease, Injury, Madness
04. Fossil Genera - A Feed from Cloud Mountain
05. Desert of Song
06. Swim to the Moon

Commented the band: "We have finished tracking our new record and we are spending this week mixing/mastering and all that fun stuff. It's hard to believe we've been recording for five weeks already. Everything went really smooth and we are very confident in the fact that this is some of the best material we've ever created. Can't wait for all of you to hear it! We have lots of footage from the studio that will hopefully be part of a special-edition DVD that will come with the new record... we will also be posting some studio videos in the next few months. Our touring plans are starting to come together and we'll be putting up dates tomorrow."
