Everything was fine 'til I saw the name Slough Feg in the review. Tell me, Cauldron sounds more like Slough or like Wolf and Grand Magus? If the answer is the later, then I'll be interested. I've been in an 80's mood lately, so maybe this will suit perfectly. The comments about the dirty voice had me worried though. Yesterday I was listening to Priest's Unleash in the East, it's awesome as the first time. Halford was incredible back then.

As my score suggests, found this less brilliant than Eli did. Songwriting needs attention, perhaps their next one will be better.

Really dig this album. Totally weirded out by the titties without nipples, though. Haha. The album came with a censored sleeve, and the chick doesn't even have nipples! WTF?

Anyway, really good album. My one problem is the kid's voice. He simply sounds so young at times. It's cool that young kids are getting out there and releasing albums these days, but when they sound like little girls it's kind of distracting.

This kid isn't as bad as some, though. Just at times.

Thomas, you should review the new Cage instead of listening to Slough Feg sounding types  It's the album of the year in the Heavy/Power department so far.

Didin't directly say it sounds like Slough Feg did I? I said it that it captures the magic in the same way with their old school feel. Didn't find any specific similarities myself other than that.

And about Cage. I somehow never really got into them. Will give their new one a try, even though I didn't really like their previous.

Cool review for a cool band.

I know these guys. Seen them live couple of times, even got to meet them because a friends band was playing at some small gig the same night as them. Cool guys, and I really like their rawish 80's heavy metal sound. Very cool.

Well this shouldnt surprise Devoted Walnut. These guys suck. Unlike what the review suggests, this is not heavier than Goat Horn. This is generic NWOBHM/Dokken with a big poser singer. Literally, I've seen the guy a couple of times, and he's always posing. Goat Horn was way better and less image conscious than this band, and Goat Horn wasnt even that good. The last Goat Horn EP was a good indicator of what Cauldron was gonna sound like. Wimpy vocals and generic guitars...although the guitar player is technically very good, and I can't say anything bad about the drummer Steel Rider. I always thought he was the cool and genuine one out of the group. But Decay is the next Sebastian Bach, posing with no substance. Bah!!

Well, in a categorically cheesy ,cartoon metal, publicity hound move, Cauldron lead singer Jason Decay reports that he was evicted from his apartment for confronting a Metallica S/M fan with a copy of Kill em All and some righteous heavy metal dudage. Wow, it keeps getting worse and worse with this band. I also recall hearing from him that he didnt like the "Godfather" movie because there wasnt enough metal in it. How retarded can it get?? Well...at the very least....it can get more retarded. The sky is the limit for this group of posing cheese metallers.

Play modern sounding stuff - cheesy flower metal keyboard posers
Play old school stuff - cheesy imposter posers

Not true!! There are a few current bands playing older style metal that I enjooy quite a bit. Zuul is a street rockin NWOBHM type band from Illinois. Helvetets Port from Finland is quite awesome as well. These bands play a very old style of metal, they're just not horrible cheese character posers. But for the most part all these retro bands are crap.
