Oh yes, I already see the flames in my eyes. Next week will be GWar or Lordi...

Gwar reviews:
Gwar - Beyond Hell 2006 91 / 100 Kayla
Gwar - Scumdogs of the Universe 1990 92 / 100 Shane

Lordi reviews:
Lordi - Get Heavy 2003 97 / 100 Danny
Lordi - The Monsterican Dream 2004 85 / 100 Danny
Lordi - Arockalypse 2006 84 / 100 Mike

And I like Gwar and Lordi. Some more Gwar reviews will be well received, at least for me.

PD: I haven't really listened Steel Panther, only one or two songs, I can't give an opinion about them.

Unfortunately the only Gwar I own is Beyond Hell, so you won't be seeing any more from me any time soon.
And if you're into 80s metal and glam and shit, check out Steel Panther. If you're not turned off by the humour, you'll find a very enjoyable record.

Just kind of 'meh' for me. I mean, it kind of sounds embarrasing really, and comes off as annoying braggadocio. If I was at a show and these guys opened up, I'd probably go get a drink or something and wait for the headliners. The music on the myspace tracks was just average.

If I'm going to listen to humour in this vein, I would go for something like MOD/SOD, Mentors or Dayglo Abortions, who are funny without sounding so full of themselves.

Couple more things
- GWAR a parody band? They may have a humorous stage show but they are not a parody. Nanowar is a parody. Zimmer's Hole is a parody.
- I think people can review whatever they want. I'll certainly comment, but telling people to 'watch what they review'? Aren't review sites as much about what NOT to buy as what to buy?

A review is an opinion , and an opinion is never wrong...

... I think there is no need for the " Post a reply" section for albums reviewed....after reading a review , people can either agree/disagree with it...and me personally do not think that , really adds anything .....

Just give me interesting and well written reviews and I can go on Myspace and work out the rest...

That's my 2 cents worth

Why can't reviews be discussed? This forum would be dead silent if there were to be no discussion of the reviews written here.

I love that video. It's so cliché, but it's still funny as hell.

It's a good album, but if you never heard a glam metal album then don't even bother posting your opinions here. Good review.

I often go by the comments as an additional counterweight, to further prevent wasting of my precious time, or to cause me to check out something the review wouldn't have otherwise.

Long live the comment section.

OK - I take it back, they actually made me laugh despite myself. And I went back and checked Mentors, and suffice it to say they weren't as good as I remembered. At least SP lyrics seem honed. Music still isn't 80's territory tho IMO .. and yes I have heard hair metal having grown up in the 80s :)

Well.. I may be very late on this one, having only having heard of these guys recently, but I've read everyone's comments and I think these guys succeed very well at doing what they're trying to do. It's catchy as hell and most people who limit their music listening to classic rock stations would probably love it. I'm not putting these guys in the same league as "real" heavy metal bands or anything, but i do think that these guys are quite the good "joke" metal band (like Dethklok). Oh, and their music videos and fake VH1 special are a great laugh.
