Oh no, it's a great compliment, I think she's way pretty, but there's not really any resemblance other than red hair.

Ahh ok. It is usually a hair-resemblance thing when people say I look like someone, too.

It truly is a shame that the metal subculture has separated itself so vehemently from the mainstream music scene, or the “pop” scene, if you will. While it is understandable that a genre that prides itself in emphasizing technique rather than image would seek to distance itself from the part of the music industry where most value is placed on superficiality..

Isn't this the other way around?

How do you mean? Metal makes it a point to distance itself from mainstream music.

Does the mainstream ever make an attempt to go beyond metal bands such as Metallica, Disturbed, and Slipknot? I mean, once in a while, Rolling Stone will review Opeth, Bodom, or DEP. But ever since Flute Metal was rewarded back in 1989, the mainstream has reduced metal to a few old fogey bands that will die out soon.

How is this relevant? Mainstream music has to be commercially accessible. But just because something is commercially accessible doesn't mean it's automatically musically bad.

But there's commercial and there's commercial. The likes of Nightwish and Turisas are considered as being commercial in metal, but I've never seen either on MTV (thank fuck). But the likes of Paramore and Jonas brothers (who I've never heard either btw  ) are commercial on the level of the likes of Simple Plan or McFly because their songs are very simple and have no problem being digested by the retarded masses.

Oh, and one time when I was in the gym, I couldn't believe it, on a rock chart on MTV2 there was none other than the video for fucking Oblivion by Mastodon. The same chart also featured Green Day in a higher position though

Paramore are in no way comparable to the Jonas Brothers, even if some of the same people buy their music. You see, this is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to confront with this review. Some sort of instinctive reaction that if it's popular in the mainstream, it can't be good. Well, it can.

The crux of the matter is that anyone here who owns albums by say, Death, does not own Paramore or Nickleback in their collection as well.

So I just pulled out three albums from my CD collection, and at the expense of respect :P I thought I'd prove you wrong

 An utter abomination. Chuck is doing backflips in his grave.

Speaking of which, is it true that Chuck became a Christian before he died?

Eh, so what if he did? At least he didn't Jesus up the place like Dave Mustaine is doing these days. I bet Dave and Tom Araya are having sermons together backstage while they blow each other listening to Pillar. And that is far gayer than Paramore, who are pretty damn gay.

If anything this thread has proven that the only people who listen to Paramore are unwashed , filthy posers who sleep on soiled bedsheets. Seriously, once a week, that's just vile.

  True. And Araya is probably even worse considering then he'll go on stage and shout God Hates Us All and er.. 70% of Slayer lyrics anyway. But it's ok, God understands.

My respect for Paramore has just gone up a notch. The short interlude bit in "Born For This" is the chorus from Refused's Liberation Frequency, from The Shape Of Punk To Come.

Nah, it's an obvious sample to anyone who knows Refused. It's the freaking chorus, for chrissakes. It fits really well though.

It made my respect for them stay about even because Refused are lame but working a small part of another band's music into one of your own songs is hella cool.

I can relate to this, I thought it was awesome how Bloodsimple put a verse from The Doors - The End into one of their songs, even though in that case it could be considered plagiarism I suppose but I saw it as more of a tribute

How can you honestly say that Paramore is cooler than Refused?
