Bruno was pretty funny. I fell out of my chair during the dildo fight scene.

Saw Harry Potter 6. It was meh, too much of a buildup to the next one. It was a bunch of interludes with no clear storyline.

Seven Pounds, good movie, but I hate sad romances. They make me miss my wife, and I see her everyday.

Saw Harry Potter. Severely disappointed... They left out everything good about the book.

So it's the same as the book?

Just finishing Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11

Honestly, how can anyone watch this and not feel a sense of violent indignation?

At Moore or neocons? My answer would be both.

At the people Moore's criticizing. I honestly don't understand why Moore gets so much flak. Sure, he's biased, but he's almost always spot on. I just watched Roger & Me today. It's amazing how a city can just fall apart.

We just returned from seeing 'Angels and Demons'. I thought it was great and stayed fairly loyal to the book. It's been years since I've read the book so I'm fuzzy on facts but I thought there was a big fight scene between Robert Langdon and the Illuminati killer at the 'water' murder. And, wasn't Robert in the helicopter too at the end?

I might add that Ayelet Zurer looked damn hot in the film.

Milk. Tis was good but could have been much better. And Sean Penn getting an Oscar for stepping out of the closet? Yeah...

Sean Penn's acting gave me chills in that movie. I don't normally like him but he managed to perfectly convey someone who is doubtful/tired but determined to constantly appear hopeful and positive.

The White Countess - Probably should have focused more on the various character's relationship with the daughter since she was the center of the climax. Otherwise it was a good movie.

Frost/Nixon - Good performance from Sheen and an excellent one from Langella, but it was definitely spiced up from the original interview, and Nixon vaguely admitting that he did wrong and let the country down is really the barest minimum he could have gotten away with - like anyone was in the slightest doubt about that fact!

Moore gets flak for several reasons:
1) people on the left don't like him because he's effective
2) he's fat
3) he wears that stupid fucking baseball cap, fucking stop wearing that you FAT SHIT
4) the left cannibalizes its own constantly; it is like that painting by Goya with the left's eyes bulging out of its skull in a display of screaming bloodlust and rage as it devours its own children
5) yeah that's basically it

Well, in Farenheit 911 especially he resorted to simplistic bullshit when there's plenty of meat there for the taking - the before/after Iraq section was ridiculous, and anyone watching a film bashing Bush probably doesn't care what the fuck Britney Spears thinks. Moore makes propaganda rather than documentaries, and as long as you understand that there's little left to criticise. Apart from, obviously, the fat-fuckishness. I had to sit next to some enormous tub of lard once on a coach trip, and it was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. Jesus, the smell of those inhuman shits is bad enough, knowing that their skin might rip open and unleash gallon upon gallon of disgusting slime all over you is a total nightmare.

I enjoy Michael Moore's movies because I usually agree with him, but the reason he gets criticized is because he doesn't make an attempt to fairly present the issue. He just states his opinion and then puts in a bunch of facts and stunts that support it.

say that he makes 'propaganda' all you want, but his films reach a much wider audience than my preachings do and are far more effective; Moore is, to date, the greatest modern purveyor of Leftish ways of thinking.

his films are simple and distorted, yes, but they're entertaining, and if you can point to a single documentary made in the last century that isn't slightly distorted then I will be forced to wake you up.

Micheal Moore is a glorified pundit with a filmmaking degree. He hasn't had anything substantial to say since Roger & Me. He might as well be a talking head on MSNBC, as then he would be in the company of his fellow party line toting twits and nobody would take him seriously. Just because he's a leftie doesn't mean he's any better than Rush Limbaugh. Neither believes a damn word that comes out of their own mouths.

It is important that leftist strains of thought reach the masses, I do not care whether or not the person touting said leftist strains of thought is obnoxious or fat or wears a terrible baseball cap.

he does not toe the party line; that is silly and it reveals that you do not know what his views actually are.

now, if you, of course, do not agree that it is important that leftist messages reach the ordinary joes, then I can see why you would think the way you do about him, but otherwise it's just good old fashioned 'i'm more ideologically pure than you' leftism.

Moore was campaigning on those same things for a long time before he became famous, to be fair to him.

I like him; like DM says he is a great advocate of those particular ideas. And he's clearly a long way to the left of the Democratic party, so he's hardly towing a party line. He is a campaigner, rather than a journalist, and tbh I generally have a lot more respect for the former than the latter.

I used to dig the way people like South Park/Team America portrayed him, but as time goes by I'm starting to think how much I prefer his work to that stuff. He's actually saying something, agree or not.
