I'm game. I'll have to check it out. Saying they are like WITTR but better, at least than the new album, has me intrigued.

Haha, ok, but that's definitely my own opinion! I like WITTR but I have never dug them as much as a lot of other people do. I wouldn't like to say that others will necessarily feel the same.

Definitely check them out though.

I know it's your opinion but you're intelligent and if you said it must have some degree of warrant to it.

So after three listens I want to say it isn't as good as WiTTR. Sorry. It's amazing parts are soooo good but then I feel like a lot of the times it drifts off and goes too ambient. I had trouble keeping focused on the album. More listens are necessary, though.

Agreed with Trapt. Its no Wolves but its still pretty good and even more impressive considering its their debut album. I wouldn't be surprised if they released some really good material later on.

I think this is the first time I've seen the word "vamp" being used in a metal review.

Yeah I guess it's probably not quite accurate but it seemed to fit.

Oh man.. This is awesome.. Not very into this type of Black Metall but I figured Wolves in the throne room should be something of interest. Anything else?

There are plenty of great bands that play BM similar to this. I'd recommend Ruins and Negura Bunget to start with... not exactly the same, but have a wonderful atmosphere and are very skilful. Krallice, like Hans Gr00blz said, and Weakling ( ) too; I've reviewed a fair bit of leftfield BM in the past, have a look through the genre sections of the site search.

For similar stuff also try the Australian band Austere, an the UK band Fen. Also give October Falls a try. This is quite a well-explored area of BM currently.

Pensees Nocturnes is another good one, from France, although less ambient/posty and more necro.

Two spins, and it's growing... Not as good at WITTR, but nearly. And it's their first album. They can become really awesome.

Great review.
