The thing with arguments like this (which many scientists like Paul Davies have made) is that, while they may do a good job of defending the existence of A God, they don't work as well if you're trying to defend the existence of a SPECIFIC God. Because they're totally compatible with not only the Christian God, but also the Muslim, Jewish, and Deistic Gods. This is why you can't really use science to defend Christian belief: It will only take you as far as the Deistic God (it's worth mentioning that Deism has become a rather popular view among scientists, for the reasons discussed in this video). If you want to justify the Christian God, you must set science aside and appeal to something else: Specifically philosophy (of which theology is a sub-branch). This isn't a knock against the argument itself (I was already aware of and in agreement with it long before you posted this video). I'm just putting it into perspective.

Agreed. That is annoying as Hell.

Proseltyzing is unecessary, though.
Unless the target has been in a coma, in a cave in the most remote part of Siberia, since childhood, how can they not have heard of Christianity and what it's about?

Which is why I believe in "inspiring" rather than "proselytizing." I'm not going to elaborate, though, since otherwise I'd be getting into some rather personal things that I don't really feel comfortable discussing on a non-Christian message board.

I am a firm believer in the idea that each individual has their own path to tread and their own experiences to encounter and their own conclusions to make regarding life, death and what comes next. The whole notion that one is right and one is wrong, is bullshit; the idea that, since person a's experiences in life have led them to a certain conlusion, persons b, c and so on MUST have the same conclusions drawn, and if they have not they are wrong, is downright insulting and rude (not saying you have done this, just making a general statement, and not even confining it to matters of religion, either.)

I think, technically, you're right. But nonetheless, I don't find anything wrong with at least inspiring people to give a certain religion/philosophy/whatever a try. That doesn't necessarily mean they need to stick with it, though. And, of course, they're totally free to say, "No" if they choose.

Watchmen-7/10, I genuinely enjoyed it for what it was. I mean, there's a million flaws I could pick out, but it was about as good as an adaptation's ever realistically going to get.

Jurassic Park on an outdoors big screen. It's is still sort of magical, and the Dinosaurs look so much better than anything computer-generated today.

I recall there were help hotlines if people needed to talk it over.
There was a period when WWIII seemed a done deal during the Reagan years; of, course it never went down that way.

I never saw the Day After- the US equivalent of Threads it seems?

Yeah, I can imagine needing a helpline after these things. Shit, can't imagine having to deal with the threat of that every day. (I guess I did, but only when I was too young to know what the deal was).

Funnily enough my parents met through CND so I kind of owe my existence to the imminent threat of nuclear apocalypse :omfg:

Fight Club. I remember it being really good, but god damn it is bloody brilliant. Such a dark and intelligent, meaningful film.

Orphan - s'alright. the twist was definitely a twist, but just another horror/thriller.

The Dark Knight - 'Tis quite solid, indeed. I'd say it's ultimately better than the 1989 Batman film. Although I do prefer Nicholson's Joker over Ledger's.

It's a tough call. I consider Nicholson to be God, but even God can't compete with Ledger in that Joker role. He is simply sublime. :dio:
