I actually lol'd irl when the vocals came in on Death - Pierce Me. Needless to say, I'd rate this much, much lower...

This doesn't make me laugh, simply because after hearing both Silencer and Nattramm's other band Diagnose Lebensgefahr, and reading reports that he attacked a girl with an axe (she lived, I'm confident he is truly insane.

Some of the most tortured and genuinely disturbing sounds from a vocalist in metal have come out of Nattramm's mouth.

And as you said rio, it's backed up by a foundation of excellent 'depressive black metal' (Though I kind of hate that tag, but I suppose it fits.)

The vocals are the only thing that make this semi-interesting.

Thought you would have been balls deep in this kind of thing

I dunno, it all felt kind of depressive-black-metal-by-numbers. Can't see anyone paying attention to it without the gimmicky vocals, anyway.

I've always been kind of skeptical about it, to be honest. He may well have mental problems, but I doubt much of the stories about him are true.

I love this album. Listened to it a few days ago when it was mentioned in the Shining thread and yeah it still grabs me. Even without the piercing vocals it's still killer.

I definitely would have given this album a lower score.

The reports about him attacking two girls in a playground with an axe are actually untrue. The band itself has not explicitly claimed that Nattramn did this, but it was basically meant to be implied by the clipping included with the original edition of the album. From what I recall talking to some Swede who followed up the story, while there was a case where two girls were attacked with an axe in a playground it wasn't Nattramn who attacked them nor anyone connected with the band.

Without the claims about Nattramn's insanity not even half as many people would give a rat's ass about this band.

Anyways, the first time I heard Silencer it was the vocals that really impressed me as well, but honestly once you get past the vocals there really isn't anything particularly special about the music itself. If anyone else has seen the video using clips from Begotten along to Sterile Nails... its really goes along well. I think watching that video is really the only time I can really enjoy any Silencer is while watching that video...the visuals definitely enhance the music...maybe the movie should be redone replacing silence with Silencer :P

I was thinking that it would make both the album and the movie a little more entertaining/less boring
