I've just seen District 9.

I won't try to explain, because words can't do it justice.

Go in to the theatre knowing as little as possible, and experience pure awe. Try to remember: it was only made for $30 million (you won't believe it when you see it, it seems like at least $150 million). It's EPIC.

Easily the best film of '09.

Awesome movie! The only thing that sucked was that I was a bit late getting to the theatre, so I had to sit in the second row near to the screen. I've never sat that close before, and for a minute I was feeling sick from the closeness and the camera shots in the beginning of the movie. I had to leave for a few minutes, but I was fine when I came back. Then when I exited the theatre, I ran into someone I hadn't seen in a few years...odd. Anyways, easily one of the best sci-fi movies in the last 10 years IMO, even with some of its flaws as mentioned in previous posts.

Yeah, I just saw District 9 yesterday--it was very, very good. The only thing I didn't like was the camera work at the beginning, when Wikus is going door-to-door...there's no way that a person would actually be that shaky, haha, and it was annoying as fuck. Also, I thought it was kinda stupid that (semi-spoiler) Wikus got so pissed at Christopher Johnson that it was going to take three years to fix him. Being mad is understandable, but I don't think anyone would realistically react the way Wikus did...his life was at stake.

But yeah, it was really very good...the aforementioned things weren't that big of a deal, really. It's not the best film of 09, though--that honor easily goes to The Hurt Locker. I'm disappointed no one here has seen it!

Just saw The Time Traveler's Wife. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. It was life half scifi half chick flick which was nice. I almost expected something as soppy as The Notebook and as retarded as The Lakehouse but it was neither.

Writing spoilers in black text against a grey background = you're doing it wrong.

Well, there's no dark grey (grey stands out even more) sooo....

Guess we could make 'em small. Eh.

That would be better, making them small. Not that I'm too bothered about District 9, but my eyes went straight to the black text.

Apparently, @ whoever was asking about Moon, it's really good. Heard this from a few people with good taste, so looking forwards to that.

Jennifer Connelly is hot.

Re-watched Dead Alive/Braindead and Police Story the other day. Both are still great.

I'm the kind of guy who has a little bit of difficulty concentrating all the way through a book....(I smoked a lot of weed).

But when I picked up trainspotting, I didn't stop for two days till it was finished, even despite the vernacular.

Fucking GREAT, AMAZING book. Totally agree with reaper up there.

I Love You, Man

second time seeing it, first time I was not sober. This time I was, and I enjoyed it but it's nothing new. A solid 7/10

Watched Rachel Getting Married. Not bad; I still think Anne Hathaway's mouth and eyes are too big for her face, but it's nice to know she can act.

Hellboy II again.

I like this one, but I seem to like most GdT. I kinda want to re-watch the first one after reading some HP Lovecraft and then reading the first graphic novel which was immensely Lovecraft influenced. All I remember from the first movie is giant space-tentacles. It kinda makes sense that del Toro is planning on making an At the Mountains of Madness movie eventually. Which I still need to finish.

Anvil - The Story Of Anvil

Great stuff, really makes you care about them and their journeys.

Now you need to actually listen to them.

Phone Booth - Entertaining and Colin Farrel's confession was surprisingly moving. Could have been a lot better though; I would've changed Kiefer Sutherland's voice, given Farrel's character a little bit of an edge over the sniper, and made the ending less disappointing.

Bird - Great music but I dunno about the rest. A lot of the time it seemed like Charlie Parker didn't have a whole lot of motivation and stuff was just happening to him. The only times I really felt for him were when he was trying to send the telegram to Chan, and when he went back to New York and found all the clubs were strip joints and that rock and roll was popular.

F*ck - as much a celebration of the word as how teh republicans are trying to ban it, and most of the stuff covered I knew, but it was nice to see that Tera Patrick has a few brain cells.

American Pie 2. The first movie was better.
