As much as I like Edguy, no way are they as good as Iced Earth. And as far as the power metal elite go, surely you can't think they're better than Helloween, Kamelot or Blind Guardian?

After their last two releases I have lost interest in this band, that I used to think were great.

Of course they're better than Iced Earth! And better than Helloween, Kamelot too. Kamelot have always sucked and Helloween made some pretty terrible albums (Bubbles, Chameleon) while Edguy have turned fruitier but still have top notch songwriting. Mark my words, I'm not a Edguy fan but I can appreciate their ability at writing material which is so damn catchy no one can compete with them in that territory.

The album has a very weak setlist IMO, no songs from Savage Poetry or Kingdom of Madness, two gay ballads and some ok songs, they should have included The Asylum, The Pharao, Theater of Salvation, Nailed To The Wheel, The Unvelieber, Key To My Fate, Eyes of The Tyrant, Wings Of A Dream, Angel Rebbellion, Power And Majesty... Seriously there are a lot of better Edguy songs than the ones included here, Out Of Control is the highlight of the album.

I don't even think they should be compared to Iced Earth. Even when Edguy was producing a more power metal-type music, they were nothing like Iced Earth. And aside from a few of the more recent Kamelot tunes, they've always been standard fare power metal, so Edguy is definitely better. But Helloween takes them, I'm afraid, even with those two weirdo albums (which aren't bad, really).

Either way, Edguy rule. And Rocket Ride still kicks ass. Though "Trinidad" is still one of the worst songs ever fucking written! I hate that song.

By the way, this album title is hilarious. Just the way they censored Fire cracks me up.

Same for me. That's unfortunate but I can't blame the guys for wanting to do something a bit different.

Don't get me wrong, I like Edguy, and they have some killer albums like Hellfire Club and Mandrake, but the others all surpass them.

Kamelot have always sucked? Kill yourself.

Right back at ya, bitch.
Kamelot never did much more me, they're predictable, cheesy (not in the good sense) and pompous. And, well, Iced Earth are even worse.

Trinidad is a total abomination. And I like Rocket Ride, I don't get all the hatred. OK, so it's not quite as good as older stuff and it isn't pure power metal, but fuck it there is some awesome shit on it like Asylum, Sacrifice and the title track.

Kamelot, like Iced Earth are amazing songwriters, the last album is a bit lacklustre, but Epica and The Black Halo are incredible, as are The Fourth Legacy and Karma.

And predictable how? In that they have a certain musical style? Just like pretty much all bands do? Would you shit on Tankard for putting out another thrash album?

Never liked Tankard much. Maybe because they're predictable...
That said, I can appreciate good power metal when I hear it even though the genre is far from my favorite and Edguy pwns both Kamelot and Iced Earth.

That actually is really funny. I was wondering what the hell that was.

I've been wanting to get this DVD/CD for some time now... but put it off the list due to the tracklist which IMO could have been better. Still, it's Edguy so it's obligatory. And now I shit myself for not having bought it when it was released.

All moaning about the tracklisting aside (something dealt with in the review) it's hardly bad. The Rocket Ride songs performed here sound great, and overall this is a great experience for Edguy fans... whatever you think of their new stuff, there's enough older material to make this a necessity for all fans of the band.

BTW, really good review Zad! Reading it made me order it right away. I had some "mehs" and "blahs" when I first saw the tracklist and was a bit afraid it wouldn't turn out good. But now I'm really looking forward to watch the DVD.

One thing people don't seem to understand—and I didn't read the review, so if you mentioned it, Zad, settle down; we don't need your wounded reviewer-vagina bleeding on the forum any more—is that they've already released a live album, Burning Down the Opera, that covered the early years. Over two CDs! Why do so again here? To please some whiny fans that would have only bitched that they'd already released a live album covering the early years?

Fans are lame. Yeah, you!

Its not just that there wasnt enough old material (wich its true) but the choice of songs (old and new) is pretty lame, Edguy has far more better songs than the ones on this album, even for a Rocket Ride live album the setlist fails they should have at least included The Asylum and Return to Tribe.
