90/100 for me.
Great album if a little inferior to Halmstad.

I'm liking the proggy side of this album, one of the best releases of the year no doubt. Luzbel, I don't think is fair to compare Klagopsalmer to Halmstad, they're quit different. It seems that almost no one is experiencing this yet, shame on you all! :P

Same band, same kind of music, following album... I fail to understand why it isn't fair to compare Halmstad and VI.

I like it. Haven't given it many listens yet. I just discovered Halmstad.

Indeed.

Although at times when I listen to this album, I wonder who they are trying to impress with the shredding?

I think they're only doing what they want and that's alright by me.

It usually works, but a couple times seems jarring or forced :/

Personally, I like shredding in black metal--gives it that extra something. I'm not huge on black metal, but I can appreciate some great musicianship...I'll check this out.

This Shining album wasn't nearly as dark as V and the solos were cool but the one's on V were a lot more emotive. I still think what Shining did here was kickass but not as good as their other stuff. Some of the shredding added a new layer to the pace and rhythm of the music but some of it had nothing to do with just about anything. At the end I feel like I just heard a solid good creative black metal album. 82/100.

I like what I hear so far. Damn these bands for only releasing albums with like 6 songs. They're great, but I want more.

Maybe a longer album wouldn't be that good.
I hate how so many bands release 70mn albums with fillers the length of half the album. At least Shining concentrates on the essentials.

What if the longer album WAS that good, though? What then?

That we'll never know but one can think they gave their best in what is not that short of an album. C'mon! 50 minutes! It's not Reign in Blood, damnit!
