Spirited Away is my favorite Ghibli movie so far. I haven't seen Whisper Of The Heart, though.

Been to the cinema thrice in as many days...

Friday - Synechdoche, New York. Kind of really dug it for a while but it started to get long and confusing.

Saturday - 500 Days of Summer. Kinda fun.

Yesterday - District 9. Yeah! Enjoyed this more than any other sci-fi I've seen for a while. The kind of thing HG Wells might have made if he were alive today :D

Noodles, you should try finding Whisper of the Heart. It's not Miyazaki, but it's by Studio Ghibli, the guys involved in all of Miyazaki's films. My favourite by them actually.

Garden State is good! It came out before Juno, Charlie Bartlett, Away We Go and all those movies that I would consider part of the indie fad. Of course, I enjoyed those movies too, but Garden State is still really good. Can't tell me you didn't laugh at the swimming scene...

On a side note, I watched Spirited Away the other night and was blown away. First Miyazaki movie I've seen and now I want to see Ponyo.

I laughed a LOT, during the first scene when he arrives with the gas pump still stuck in his car, when he tries on the shirt that matches the wall, when Sam's brother was dusting for prints... But then I realized that the movie wasn't actually supposed to be a comedy. Very good film, I thought.

That shirt-matching-the-wall bit made me scowl. OOH LOOK HOW AMAZING AND ORIGINAL.

It was just fucking surreal, and the acting made it work. Not saying it's original, it's just a well done portrayal of a somewhat touching situation. You're so quick to judge things as unoriginal just because it's not stylistically what you appreciate.

It wasn't fucking surreal at all. Jesus Christ. Zach Braff is a shitty actor and Garden State was liquid manure.

It WAS surreal, just not in a way you're used to.

I loved the movie, Postgrad. I don't care what anyone says it made me laugh. A lot.

Also watched Running Scared with Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal for the umpteenth time. That movie never gets old. Such solid montages.

I can barely stand to watch the commercial for Postgrad. Alexis Bledel is an atrocious actress. My wife, for some insane reason, likes Gilmore Girls. Every time that girl has a freaking line I want to reach through the tv and slap her. I can only imagine 2 hours of that kinda torture. I don't think Dick Cheney would put Gitmo detainees through that shit.

I watched I Love You Man the other day. Every conversation in that movie was awkward in the "lol, I can relate," kind of way. On top of that, it had Rush. I also watched The Hangover, which all my friends had said was hilarious. Of the two I much preferred I Love You Man. The Hangover had some funny parts but seemed like it was trying too hard.

Time Crimes -> Chronocrimenes or Crimechrononos or something. Cool little Spanish time-travelling thriller, only four people in the whole film but it works, and the ending isn't a complete fuck either, so hurrah all around. 3.75 stars out of 5.

Yeah Gilmore Girls is probably one of the best shows of the last nine years.

Started on Ghost In The Shell. I never seem to find the time to watch films in one go.

I rented Speed from Netflix. I'll watch it probably in a couple weeks.

Just Watched:

El Día De La Bestia (The Day of the Beast); i love this movie.

Torrente: El Brazo Tonto De La Ley; This movie is so fucking funny.

Torrente 2: Misión En Marbella; Just as good as the first one IMO.

Torrente 3: El Protector; ah the worst one of the three, not as many good characters as the first two but still fairly enjoyable.
