Every band that has ever misappropriated Emperor's sound and made fruity power metal infused "symphonic black metal". Except ones who did it right IE Limbonic Art.

Yeah Meshuggah have a cool and unique sound but actually listening to most of their albums is pretty boring.

I don't know if I agree with Slayer being overrated or not, on one hand they aren't the most intense thrash band; I'm sure we can all agree on that one. They did however make some incredibly influential albums in their prime

Because it's not what it's blown up to be.

Seriously though; It's ok for like 5 minutes during foreplay, but past that it's often kind of awkward with the suppressed fear of teeth scrapings, off-putting slurping noises and tendency of girls to want to kiss afterwards.

I didn't say it's horrible. Just overrated

I agree (and used some of the same words in another thread before I read this). Unfortunately it goes for Emperor themselves as well. Moreover your avatar reminded me about the monstrously overrated <code>

Also +1 to The_Voice's post and he who mentioned Deathspell Omega.

I thought blowjobs were overrated until I was with a girl who was good at them.

Looking at my Horror Show Iced Earth T-shirt that I got ages ago they come to mind. I mean, you don't really hear about them anymore, but back when I first started listening to them in 2000-ish every forum would praise them.

They do solid work, but I've never thought they've done anything classic or anything I really ever come back to.

Yup, assembly line-predicatable bollocks from the songs I've heard. And I listen to power metal!

I know that probably no one will agree with me, but I just have to get it out of my system so here goes...Opeth are overrated.

Agreed. Probably haven't given them a large enough chance, but what I heard isn't that spectacular. I love the Ghost Reveries album, though...

I'm totally with you.

I liked Shining's new CD quite a bit, but I haven't listened to their older stuff. But I mean, are they even overrated? lol.
