I was 8 or 9 years old riding with my brother and some cousins and Black Sabbath's Iron Man came on. That was one of the first rock or metal songs that really hit me, probably one of the few I had heard, my parents being very into Christianity always tried to hide that type of music from me. I've always loved music though, any kind.

The transition from Intermission-->Jimmy on Tool's Aenima struck me as incredibly funny and awesome when I was like 10 or 11.

Europe - Rock The Night. That is when I started finding rock music appealing. I then had a lapse and went back to listening to pop. I then listened to Bon Jovi's Bad Medicine and after that, it was rock/metal all the way.

if this is about something that struck me as immediately inspiring at the time I'll have to say Mayhem-De mysteriis dom Sathanas and Moonspell-The Antidote.

Hallowed Be Thy Name sticks out in my mind, but I know there was something before that.

Before I was really into metal I did listen to some things like Tool and Metallica. But it wasn't until I heard the very very un-metal Dark Wings by Within Temptation at a friends house that started about a 2 year obsession with power metal and female fronted symphonic gothicy stuff. Now over the last 2 years I've grown into appreciating just about any genre.. So yeah Dark Wings it is.

I remember really being blown away by "I, Voyager" by Nevermore when I first heard it at 13. I was pretty much floored, and I bought Enemies Of Reality, my first album, so yeah.

Can't actually remember tbh. Either that fuck you, I won't do what you tell me RATM song, or one of those early Evanescence singles, or System Of A Down's Chop Suey.

It was Maiden's Brave New World, the full album, not the song. It was the epic romantic operatic atmosphere of the whole thing that eventually made me think "hey, the Stereophonics are shite!" It then took me a while to get into proper metal after that via a load of in-between stuff but yeah, thats where it started.

I used to ride the school bus with this kid who had a walkman and we listened to War Pigs every morning. I always grew up listening to my brother's albums I used to love White Zombie, Metallica and Pantera.

Metallica - Fight Fire With Fire. Ride The Lightning was the first metal album I ever listened to, and the song immediately grabbed me at first listen. I had never heard such loud, fast music in my life.

Well Slipknot's wait and bleed struck me so hard I bled. And then I like had to wait in the emergency department of my local hospital for two hours. True story.

Gamma Ray's Beyond The Black Hole. That song kicked my ass back when I was an arrogant little 14-year old, and it always will.
