What are some of your favorite lyricists/poets from some of your favorite metal albums? Who do you think as a writer can combine the darkness of metal topics with an intellectual touch? [/quote]

Pretty sure he is the one who writes the lyrics for DT.

I dunno. Hammers of Misfortune's lyrics are pretty awesome. Anyone who doesn't make retarded grammar mistakes or use really lame rhymes is good enough though. I haven't had any metal lyricists where right away I'm hanging onto every word the first few times I listen to the album, and great music will make the lyrics seem great.

Personal favs:

Anders Friden
Dave Mustaine
Christian Alvestam ( I may be giving him credit for lyrics he doesn't write, though. I don't know if he wrote lyrics for SS or if someone else did and he just offered input )
King Diamond
Robert Stjärnström from Machinae Supremacy

Whoever writes Cattle Decap's lyrics. Polyps is intense.

Steve Harris, Dave Mustaine , whoever writes the lyrics for Immolation, Lemmy and Alice Cooper. His music may not be all metal, but he's one of the best lyricist around.

Daniel Gildenlow. His lyrics don't make me want to pull my hair out. Kevin Moore's are also pretty good.
