What do I need to stay away from on my next music purchase?

Spheric Universe Experience - Unreal is the only album I've heard that I can say you should avoid at all cost. Even is its free, you should decline. I'm so pissed off that they released this pile.

Nothing has disappointed me this year, which is nice.

The new Slayer album is boring. I'd say that's the only thing I've been disappointed in so far this year.

The new Dream Theater. Of course, I was expecting it to be a wet pile of cow defecation, so the level of disappointment wasn't as tremendous as, say... after I had listened to Systematic Chaos. I'm also expecting the new Striborg to be terrible -- what with Sin Nanna repeating himself on every occasion.

That's all I can think of, to be honest. 2009 has been, thus far, a much better year than the previous.

I might have been disappointed that it wasn't as good as Images & Words, but c'mon, despite a couple missteps it's a pretty strong album. The Count Of Tuscany is one of their best songs ever, really.

World Painted Blood. I can't remember the last time I heard an album and felt so indifferent about it. They need to stop trying to remake fucking Reign In Blood, they simply can't do it.

Heaven & Hell. It's a good album, but not a masterpiece as everybody expected.

Altaria released something? Why is it a disappointment?

Apparently it's all chugga chugga hard rock. No keyboards this time.

Muse's new one was a big disappointment, but otherwise can't think of much. Wasn't expecting much from World Painted Blood other than a more or less solid Slayer album, and that's what we got. Loved the Dream Theater.

Yep, boring hard rock. This is what I get for listening to the new Gotthard 24/7.

Which is amazing and will be reviewed by yours truly ASAP.

I don't know what you people expected out of Slayer in 2009, but what we got isn't as bad as you people are making it out to be. It's better than Christ Illusion and God Hates Us All that's for sure.

No, it's not. Other than about 2 songs it has absolutely nothing memorable. When the first couple songs came out on Myspace I thought it was gonna be a pretty decent album, but those are the only songs worth listening to. Everything else is filler at best. I'm really surprised you think it's halfway decent considering you are always playing the part of the thrash purist.

I know that we agree on a lot of thrash-related stuff, but, I have to disagree with you here. I actually like CI better, which is an album I don't really like to be honest.

It isn't bad by any means but the lack of female vocals made me sad.

It wasn't the ever ubiqituous Images And Words comparison; it was the fact that it wasn't as good as Octavarium, which I consider to be their last good release.

Also, I concur with Zad about the new Muse. I had forgotten all about it, which just goes to show how disappointing it was.
