Musically, it's more or less the same direction as Layers of Lies but I don't dig Broman's vocals. Sydow was so much better to my ears. It's ok if you don't like the band's music but to me, it's the vocals that kill it. If it was Sydow on vocals, this would get an 85 for me but as it is, 78 at most.

59? I'd have to recommend anyone remotely interested in Darkane to skip this review. I mean, really, somebody obviously is sick of the scene in general and Darkane just happened to be a convenient target. Don't sweat it, it happens on the site from time to time.

Pfft, tried to relisten to this, and it sounds extremely bland and uninspired. Maybe I overreacted at the score, but this would've been given a 66-67 tops.

I haven't even listened to this and a 59 sounds about right for a Darkane album.

I haven't liked anything by these guys since Rusted Angel (which I still think is a classic). So, I'll bet this review is accurate.

If memory serves, I palmed this off onto Thomas after finding it pretty yawnsome myself.

I postponed purchasing this because of this review. But upon listening to some samples from their MySpace page I decided to give it a shot. This album is actually pretty good. I prefer their previous singer over the new one but he does a decent job. As for the music it's great as usual, not the typical Melodeath you hear nowadays. Great riffs awesome technical solos and drumming. It's a bit chaotic at times but then again Darkane's always been a bit like that.

Yeah, Rusted Angel is still worth a listen every now and then. I also found 'Expanding Senses' to be a guilty pleasure every now and then too, because some of the tracks are actually pretty catchy.

To each his own.. I went in with pretty big expectations after hearing bunches of good things about them. And well, for me, they didn't deliver, as you can probably see in the review.

I wrote it at a time where I was really frustrated at the whole melodeath scene. It used to be a favourite genre of mine when I first got into metal, but then it just went to shit. Darkane was supposed to revive my interest, but failed miserably.

Tried to give the myspace-songs some spins, but yeah, no. I still don't like this much.

Yeah, 59 is laughable. I gave it a fair rating myself since it deserves better. And I agree that anyone interested in Darkane should skip this review.
