The only album I've really dug in that top 10 is The Streets, which is great.

Haven't heard most of the others tbh... who even reads the NME anymore...

What's Streets like? Is it worth checking out?

Checking it out now... Not usually a big rap fan (in fact I don't have any rap) but this isn't bad. I'll give it deeper attention.

PJ Harvey's one is really good. Not as good as Is This Desire?, my fav PJ one, but really good (but not in my 100 best record of the decade list).
Radiohead In rainbows is a minor Radiohead, one of their lest interesting records. Arcade Fire Funeral is ok, but nothing really soooo good. Rest of the first 10 positions are crap or something I really haven't listened to, and I'm not really very interested in (as The Streets, I'm not really interested in rap).

imo In Rainbows is one of Radiohead's best albums (tied with OK Computer and Hail to the Thief), although it wasn't until I saw them live that a lot of the songs started making sense. Agree with Is This Desire being PJ Harvey's best album although there's still a couple I haven't heard

This thread is about metal albums though, yo.

Well, perhaps I have to give In Rainbows another try.

I really like that PJ Harvey, my favorite of hers. The Interpol album isn't bad but nothing near top 100 of the decade.

Looking back on this decade i reallize that there were three major metal events for me:

1.- Dickinson and Smith back into Maiden; this was huge surprise for me, Brave New World was one of my most litened albums from 2000 to 2002, that and the excellent live album (and my first DVD) that was Rock In Rio put the best band in the world back in full force.

2.- Rob Halford back in Judas Priest; a new Judas Priest album with Halford? what more can metalhead ask?, for 2005 it would have seem that the metal gods had answered our prayers and sent us Angel Of Retribution, this superb album was the best Priest had put out in years, the fact that it didnt tried to be Painkiller 2 but more like a new take of the bands different eras was gift for the longtime fans of the band, not to mention Halford excellent vocals were in top form for the album.

3.- Pagan Altar releases a new album (Lords Of Hypocrisy); now this is a more personal choice for me and i dont expect many people to agree with it, i didnt even knew the band before so i cant say that this album was a huge expectation for me, no in fact i first heard it in 2006 but i had to include it here for two reasons: first is that it is very very rare for an 80s band reunion album to be as good as their golden days, Lord of Hypocrisy did not only that but in some ways managed to be better and second is that this has become one of my favorurite bands of not only the doom/nwobhm genre but of metal and music in general.

The sad notes of the decade for me would be the split-ups of Running Wild and Metal Church, Running wild had a very week decade but i was hoping for them to redeem with a kick ass album, Metal Church on the other hand delivered us three excellent albums with Ronny Munroe, so i was very sad to hear that the band is no more.

Other highlights were Grand Magus, Slough Feg and Cage, all three bands delivered excellent albums through the decade and im really looking forward of what they would bring on next one, Dark Quarterer deserves a mention too for their latest effort "Symbols", an album i cant seem to get tired of.

The Thrash scene was somewhat stale even with (and because of) the thrash revival, nothing new worth mentioning, some bands got excellent comebacks: Mekong Delta, Sacrifice, Exodus got me going with Tempo of The Damned but failed to deliver with their subsequent albums, Sodom and Tankard remained consistent as ever even though i would like for Sodom to release more albums, Kreator was a mixed bag but theyre slowly getting there, Overkill got two good albums, one excllent album and a mediocre one, Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer did nothing to impress, overall the best thrash album of the decade would be Sodom - M16.

Another one I forget to put in my list:

Green Carnation - Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness

I've never been able to come across any of their material, at the local store here they have Acoustic verses; but I always buy albums from bands I know so I haven't checked it out. Is it any good?

First of all...to all posters who ridicule or question other's picks...it is music and everyone has different opinions, and your opinion is no more valid than anyone elses...if you think your opinion matters more than anyone else's, you are a fucking retard...just accept the fact that not everyone shares your opinion and that you are not special....rant/off.

Waaahh. These lists make me realize how much music I need to listen to. As for me, I'll be short and sweet.

1. Everything Converge put out

then...

Everything Mastodon put out
Everything Protest the Hero put out
BTBAM--Colors

I'll sneak in Coheed and Cambria--IV: Good Apollo, etc.
