Does anybody here believe in ghosts?

do you have an interesting story to share?

I think I believe, but I'm not sure. I am a sucker for shows like Most Haunted and Ghost Hunters, but I have never experienced anything personally. Although my mother does say our first house we lived in was haunted. I was too young to remember.

I don't believe in them, but I've been alone at night and managed to freak myself out with an overactive imagination. I imagine if I ever did see a ghost or UFO or whatever I'd be reduced to a nervous wreck.

Speaking of UFOs and other unexplained phenomena, even though I'm pretty skeptical I do enjoy reading about them. Like this poor sod:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentich_Disappearance

Quote:
DSJ: My intentions are - ah - to go to King Island - ah - Melbourne. That strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again (open microphone for two seconds). It is hovering and it's not an aircraft.

FS: Delta Sierra Juliet.

19:12:28 DSJ: Delta Sierra Juliet. Melbourne (open microphone for seventeen seconds).

(An unexplained sound abruptly terminated the voice communications.)

Serious wtffage.

No proof, no "belief".

I'm skeptical about anything supernatural. Occam's Razor, I guess.

My grandmother has some good stories of her old house. Mostly just the usual thinking somebody is behind you or in the same room as you. You can feel a gentle breeze behind you like somebody walked past you. That kind of stuff. But her best story is when her coin purse went missing.

She would go once a week to play cards with some of her friends. When she would go she would always take her purse and in her purse was her coin purse. Well when the "activity" like I explained above was at its peak, her coin purse would always go missing out of her purse. She would usually find it in the other room under a table or something. But one time it went missing and she thought it was gone for good. Several weeks later when cleaning she found it tucked way down the back of her couch. She confronted my grandfather, the only other person living in their 100 year old house, and he told her that he never touches her purse. She to this day believe it was the ghost that haunted her house who took it out of her purse and hid it on her. She said the ghost liked it when she was home, as she didn't work. So when she would go out to play cards, the ghost would get mad. You could tell he was mad because you just had this eery cold feeling. So hiding the coin purse was the ghosts way of making her stay home.

I don't know if I believe this story, but why would my grandma lie?

10 maybe. I can see where you are going with this. She told me the story to scare me or becuase she knew I liked ghost stories, but I can call her now and she will tell the story the same way she did 10-15 years ago.

That's a reason why grandmothers are awesome, not proof.

I'd like to believe in ghosts and UFOs, just as much as I'd like to believe in Buddhism and Theosophy and access my past lives and dormant psychic powers, but I'm too much of a cynic.

I know it's not proof, but I believe that she believes. That is all.

Those "ghost hunting" TV shows make me laugh more than anything. It's always fun watching grown men scream like little girls. Also, any time they point out a "spirit orb" = instant lol. It's dust, ffs.

so you think it's funny that they scream like little girls, but yet you listen to BTBAM?

I don't get why you find one group of men screaming like girls is funny, but when another guy does it, they are the best band ever...?

I dunno, the guy from Vektor screams like a little girl. I think that's hilarious.
