I spent quite a bit of time listening to this one, and I would score it much higher, in the 80s at least.

I didn't find Bandoliers or Elephants tedious; I rather thought they were standouts. Bandoliers has a wonderful tex-mex catchiness to the chorus and Elephants is simple but effective. The boring songs which gave me an itchy skip finger were the opener, Mind Eraser and Dead End Friends.

I guess this is the danger with straightforward rock music - it's just too easy to get off on the wrong foot with the listener if they think they've heard it all before.

Better than the review says. Not essential by any means but it felt good to hear ole John Paul in a young and exciting band.
