My five point approach to this thread:

1. Raven: Hope your daughter is doing better. Take care and good luck.

2. Merry Christmas everybody! And happy belated Hanukkah for us others (we fucking showed Antiochus good).

3. Seinfeld, to answer your question: Ayn Rand is an awful writer and her "philosophy" is simplistic, ego fueled garbage. The climax to Atlas Shrugged is a 40 page speech, which repeats everything that will have been nailed into your head throughout the 1,200 page book, over and over. I'm not kidding.

4. OMG JESUS WASN'T ACTUALLY BORN ON THIS DAY? REALLYZ? CHRISTMAS IS AN EVIL SHAM!!!!!

5. For Hanukkah this year, I got a pair of skates! Pretty sweet. I'm going to finally live up to Canadian stereotypes, learn to skate, and hopefully eventually play ice hockey (badly, no doubt). I'm excited, skating is something I've been wanting to learn for a long time.

And a bonus 6: I'm not much of a winter fan, but even I've gotta admit it's pretty beautiful out here. Lots of snow, not too cold at all, perfect for winter street hockey madness.

I hope your daughter is OK, Raven. That really does suck.

I got guitar picks, guitar strings, 100$ gift certificate to a music store, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never do Again and Consider the Lobsterby David Foster Wallace, a thermos and some money.

Merry Christmas everyone!

That's terrible about your daughter Raven. Hope she's better now...

I got a gramophone(?) and the whole kit to play LP's on! There is something magical about LP's I've learned... got a few albums with it too.

I also got a subscription for "Sweden Rock Magazine", a few cd's and DVD's, money and some other stuff... I'm well pleased!

Hope you are too :)

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement and concern. She's recovered fairly well with very little vomiting but slept most of the day and she recovered most of her memory of this morning. She's had epilepsy for years but it's almost been a year since her last seizure so we were feeling rather confident that she may be 'growing out of it'. This morning was a rather painful reminder to remain ever vigilent no matter what.

I had other issues that were weighing on me that almost made today personally unbearable but I've been attempting to keep up a happy facade for the family. My daughter's situation almost caused me to break down. I just hate to see her suffer with this especially today.

Again, thank you and despite my own negative feelings I do hope that you all had a great day.

(now where's the booze?)

Yep, everything is back to normal today. She's awesome and we appreciate all the well wishes :)

As for the gifts I've received:

Batman: Arkham Asylum (xbox360)
Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Sith Edition (xbox360)
Halo ODST (xbox360)
Stephen King's 'Under The Dome'
George Carlin's 'Last Words'
Battlestar Galactica Season 1 dvd's
Robot Chicken Star Wars 1 & 2 dvd's
Baltimore Ravens Skin It for my laptop
Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series dvd
Creature Feature dvd's & poster **

**The Creature Feature stuff centers on a Washington DC area horror host called 'Count Gore De Vol' who hosted a weekly horror movie show on Saturday nights. He would break in with comedy skits and trivia etc.. He still does it at http://www.countgore.com But seeing the stuff from my childhood is awesome.

I ended up with Mario Kart Wii, cash, gift cards and that's about it. The winter weather made this Christmas that much better. 13inches of snow on top of 7inches already from the previous week + 30-50mph winds + 10ft snow drifts = a merry Christmas.

Cash
Mittens
A Sugar Bowl t-shirt

Cash makes me sad as a present but I needed it. Kinda makes me feel like no one knows anything about me or just doesn't care.

How does it work? The commercial is so ingrained in my head that I might actually bend to their will and buy one.

What I got for Christmas...

Dragon Age Origins for 360
$200 gift card at Best Buy
Some Clothes
A recently got a queen size bed, but I was careless and wrecked my blanket in the wash, so I got a new bedding set this Christmas.
