I'm a History major at Florida Gulf Coast University. I am currently enrolled in a Islamic History course and I wish to do my final research paper on the emergence of heavy metal in the Islamicate world.


Does anyone have any resources or documents they know of besides the book Heavy Metal Islam???

I've heard that the music actually drives them insane. U.S Psychops use blast Deicide and Cannibal Corpse to torment "insurgents". I know that doesn't help, I have a hard time imagining that muslims are into metal but if they are fuck yeah!

Yeah, it's a really good idea to contact some actual Muslim musos... would probably make for a great paper.

Anyway, I know Terrorizer did a couple of features on metal in the Middle East, but it was probably at least a year ago.

There was a doc about an Iraqi metal band that, though was not very good, could shed some light on the subject.

I don't know how much help would it be but you could watch Global Metal, where they go to places like Indonesia and a few countries in the Middle East.
