Honestly, the music that is in the backround on the TV show is entirely 100x better than both CD's combined.
It's just all been done before, and way better. I don't feel any energy off the album and I don't appreciate the gimmick. The TV show tries too hard and it's just not my style of humor.
I wish it would go away, really.
I despise Cannibal Corpse and Lamb of God, but I don't think they should "go away" as they have a lot of fans that enjoy em, just not my cup of tea.
Also, you don't appreciate the gimmick because? I'd like to know, is it somehow offensive to your pure blooded metal lust or what?
The nice thing about the diversity of both television and music is that you can turn it off or not listen to it, if you despise Dethklok that much then just don't pay attention to em. The overt hatred I find in a lot of metal aficionados for Brendon Small and DK is strange to say the least.
Also, Volcano, The Gears, Deth Support and Laser Canon Deth Sentence are amazing songs technically imo and have more "energy" than about 3/4's of the run of the mill metal bands that get churned out every year.
Really, all I'm trying to say is that Brendon Small puts a ton of time and sweat into this "fake" band and although DA II isn't THE most amazing thing I've ever heard, it never lets me down, there's no ballads or political messages, it's just stupid fun metal. If people really don't like them simply because they're either A.) successful or B.) a band that mocks the metal scene then maybe they need to look at just how seriously they're taking metal and its' culture. The major metal artists
like him, the show and the band enough to come in and do random bit parts in his episodes all the time.
It's only a matter of accepting comedy being infused with this genre which I must say is a point of contention among the metal population, something I still don't understand as this music scene is, as GeneralDiomedes pointed out, ripe for parody.
