Now that the first decade of the 2000's has come to an end, I think a little reflection is in order here. What would you consider to be the best albums of 2000 through 2009?

Respond with your choices for:

1. Best Thrash Metal Album
2. Best Death Metal Album
3. Best Power Metal Album
4. Best Heavy Metal Album
5. Best Black Metal Album
6. Best Metalcore Album
7. Best Metal Album Overall
8. Best Non-Metal Album

Note: You are allowed only one choice per category.

Testament best thrash?

HA

Sodom - M-16
Overkill - Ironbound
Heathen - Evolution of Chaos
Destruction - The Antichrist, D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.
Tankard - Thirst, B-Day, Beast of Bourbon, The Beauty and the Beer
Sacrifice - The Ones I Condemn

what do they have in common? They all destroy anything Testament ever did, especially Formation of Damnation.

I'll be damned if I could name a Power metal or Heavy metal album.
Good call.

Give me a compelling difference between Testament's The Gathering and Slipknot's Iowa. It's a modern approach to a thrash album. It's similar to Kreator's Enemy of God.

I thought about this a while, but can't think of a single choice for best Death or Black. What about Doom, like Rio said, and Prog?

I was actually thinking of adding "Prog" to the list. Except prog metal usually falls more under the heavy metal category than anything else. So I left it off.

You can add Doom metal if you like. Unfortunately, I don't have any personal choices in that genre, as I don't listen to doom.
