Weird, I could have sworn I posted in this thread...

LE: Mystery solved: here it's only HT's comment, but if you click on the forum link in the review, there's been 3 pages of discussion already.

Shouldn't you guys take Marty's minireview and put it up instead of this one? Or get someone to do a new one? SWOD really deserves a proper review, not an enumeration of songs disguised as a review.

Here's a short review.

This album is ground breaking in as many ways as any Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin albums. This is one of the most classic albums in heavy metal history. The impact of this album cannot be understated. No band can every again release an album this good. The end.

It's a good album though they'd go on to do stellar albums afterward as well. Never though much of "Sad wings of destiny" though; it's definitely one of those albums that needs to be relistened. I don't know it's just not as personally relevant as "Painkiller".

I'll pay someone $15 to move this to the classics section.

This album pretty much speaks for itself.
One of the most important albums in metal history, with some of Priest's best material. Not quite as good as Sin After Sin, but still a landmark album.

FYI

Painkiller is over rated.

And I agree with DW, no JP album is overrated.

I don't think it's overrated. I mean, it's not on par with the rest of their albums, but I don't think many would claim that it is.
