Who's into weightlifting? I got into lifting about 6 months ago. Definitely a fun thing to do if you have the time/money to get to a gym. Anyone down with lifting?

I don't lift weights, but my work consists of me lifting people who weigh significant poundage.

like today, lifted a guy, in a stretcher, up and down 10 stairs. He was easily 200 lbs. Plus the weight of the stretcher.

fun stuff

I've had a couple of six month periods where I do it a couple of times a week but I find it boring as shit so I always end up quitting... And getting fat. I think I need to get back in there and bore my fat away until I once again can't take it anymore.

Definitely a fun thing to do?

Damn, we're different people, hehe.

I go for a run practically every day, and I can tolerate that, mainly thanks to music. But every once in a while I feel like I need more muscles and I start lifting....and within a month, if that, I quit. There's almost nothing i enjoy less.

Fun is definitely not the right word for me.

I tend to be off and on with lifting weights. When I have easy access to a gym and not too many other commitments, I'll usually do it for about 1.5-2 hours a day, three days a week. Otherwise, however, I tend to just do cardio.

I lift a lot. It's my hobby, I guess. I got into it about 3 years ago. I weighed 155 at that point. Now I'm sitting about 225ish. It's fun to work hard and see results.

Plus, lifting heavy weights + good music = :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio:

Lifting is great when you are about finish your last set or two. I think it sucks getting motivated to that point though.

Pretty much exactly what Orion said. I lift as a hobby. I also like to pick out 'Workout Music' for my iPod.

This is what I do...highly recommended if you want to be a ridiculous athlete (which I'm not...I only do their workouts about twice a week with sports thrown in once or twice in addition) but it's definitely not for the faint of heart.

I get bored easily and quit. It sucks because I always get pumped up and get a lot of info and go to the gym a few times and when I finally get over the soreness and gain stamina some shitty errand gets in the way. And when I am done with it, I don't wanna get sore again so I quit.

I should get some weights for the house so I can do it whenever the fuck I want.

Yeah, but its not good for building muscle. Plus its kinda dangerous. I say stick to protein.

So, for those of you that do lift, what kinda numbers do you put up in the standard lifts (squat, bench, deads, etc.)?

I play rugby and am engaged to a gorgeous girl so I have more than enough reason to work out. I find cardio boring as shit but it's awesome to see the results after weeks of dedication. Emerging from the gym with a pumped muscle core feels great too. Touch rugby serves as my cardio so I am able to dedicate most of my time to weightlifting. I'm training to be a CPT to begin my career in fitness so you could say it's a passion of mine. America has too many fat people...

I'm 170lbs.

Bench- 170lbs
Deadlift- 305
Squat- 235

if you haven't maxed out in a while use this: http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html

I want my bench to be 205 by mid summer or so. I'm having trouble moving up in it though, maybe benching too often?

Nom nom, buff men.

I frequent the gym nearly everyday, I don't lift weights as in bench pressing, but I do weight training for tone.

I think I'm 225 in bench, 300 in squats, and I have no clue in dead/clean lifting. I also like to get my cardio in. I really don't keep track though. I lift to lift, run to run... its fun and numbs my mind for a while.
