I do hate those guys that are in the gym everyday, for hours at a time. They have these grossly huge arms and tiny heads. I can hear their grunts and yells from the other side of the gym. Then they sit their and flex in front of the mirror, pull up their shirt to check out their abs, stare at women... noticeably. Its like, chicks don't come to the gym to meet guys, why do you think they like to be stared at?

They're on steroids.. Guaranteed. They think with their muscles and their dicks (if they have one that works).

I assume you've had some crap experiences with "jock faggots", but all in all working out is good for you and your body as it prevents some pretty fucking serious diseases later in life.

Exactly, it's a nice way to achieve goals and getting your self-esteem up. Not that Noodles needs that judging by the relationship-thread

I was kidding, actually! Only HUGE MUSCLES person I've talked to was a pretty cool asian dude named Larry.

Once my wisdom teeth extractations heal and I can eat nuts again I think I'm going to start consciously trying to gain weight.

I once worked with this latent that would bring in those muscle-head mags, and try to convince the rest of us that the glossy pics of musclebound women captured therein in full purple faced vein busting glory were "sooo freakin' hot", to a bunch of blank stares, and assorted variations of "what the fuck?" and other similar sentiments. He seriously just couldn't understand how it was that we didn't seem to share his bizarre fetish regarding oiled up he-she's, calling us all crazy and whatnot.

Those steroids are making you rage. Maybe you should cut back, bro.

Also I used to play basketball alone in the driveway for hours on end so I can score like a motherfucker, but it all falls apart if there's someone covering me and I never played with other people.

i dont care that you used to play basketball, how can you say you can score if you've never played with anyone? another retarded comment from the soft ass pussy noodles. yeah im really roiding it up with my 170lb bench.

Bench is a very overrated exercise...personally, I think it's more about looking cool at the gym than anything.

I agree. Go with dumbbell press, curls, flies... I'll only use the bench press when the dumbbell station is insanely busy.

lol. dumbbell press works the exact same muscles as barbell bench press?

Yeah I'm really doing a bench press at the gym to look cool. Like I care what anyone at the gym thinks of me. I go to kill time.

Dumbbell works a lot more.

I guess I should rephrase. I hate it when people do bench press every time they go to the gym.

Even I knew that although I forgot what a dumbbell press was called.

So, this thread entitled "weightlifting," has basically turned into, "lets talk about how if you take weightlifting seriously that makes you a dumbass meathead."

Oh, and bench is definitely not the end all be all, but it's a fine upper body pressing exercise. How much and how often you do it all depends on your goals and preferences.

I find the best method for chest development is a combination of bench press (bar) and dumbell press, flyes and cable crossovers (the best).
the one single thing I do miss about the gym (as noted previously I workout in my garage), is the cable crossovers.

Dips are quite good, too.

I need to try that. I do flyes on incline and flat whenever I'm working upper body, but have always wanted to try the cable crossover thingy.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that one.. Flies/Incline Flies works better for me at least. And what's with all the hate on benchpress? It's a fine way to measure strength and is stabilizing. You get both your chest and your triceps going as well. I'm a huge fan of dips, especially with additional weight.

Weighted dips are great.

I will say this about flat bench though, it's a fine exercise but can be pretty hard on your shoulders. If you are just training for general strength or aesthetics then flat barbell bench really isn't all that important and could easily be left out of your program.
