This may not be as good as Ironbound, but it certainy is a hell of a lot better than a 65. It's fast, pretty thrashy, and the solos between Holt and Atlus are awesome. Sure there is some shitty groove and metalcore moments, plus still Dukes is a douche, but still this is better than 65.

I'd give it a 79 or so. Far from great but great from far, if you catch my drift.

I am one of the people that likes this better than you did. I love this album! Although it is very long I can easily sit through the whole thing, but I can see why this might be an issue to some. It is an ambitious album and for me it pulls through. I'd rate it at 85/100 or something like that.

Nah, he was being very generous, he should've given it a 30, the band hasn't done anything interesting since Tempo of the damned.

Fuck no, and even if it is, it beats this by miles. This is some serious boring, uninteresting music, what thrash should not sound like. Italics ftw.

Tempo is overrated, there is much better post-2000 thrash albums out there. People call new Exodus boring, try listening to War is My Sheppherd or Scar Spangled Banner those two are as boring and uninteresting as they come.

I know it all come down to personal taste, but I can't the love TotD gets. It's pure shit.

ToTD rules, man, don't be a hate-riot. OH SAY CAN YOU FUCKING SEE, THE MISSILES FALL LIKE RAIN! Fallen behind a bit, not heard this or Exhibit A, and I like modern Exodus on the whole, will have to check this out.

I love most things Exodus, but TotD never did anything for me. The only song I liked on it was written over 20 years ago.

But yes Mr. Boombox, check out this album it's pretty good and as much as I love tomtom, I wholeheartedly disagree with this review.

Great production but the song writing has been somewhat forgettable every since they got Dukes.

The faster songs are cool and the soloing is very cool. Sometimes you don't need much more then that. Sometimes.

I just do not like him as their vocalist. I thought that Zetro sucked until I heard Tempo of the Damned. He is the only one that can bring that band back. Or Hal from Burnt Offering.

Zetro sucked til TotD? he sounded like every other metalcore singer out there on that album, kinda like Dukes.

He was best on Pleasures of the Flesh, which is bascially BBB 2 just not as good.

after reading the review a little more in-depth I noticed that because this is not exactly note-for-fucking-note BBB, it's no good.

a band can't move on?

sure I'd like a band to release an album as awesome as BBB again, but it's not going to happen. But to write off an album because it grooves a bit and that didn't happen on BBB is pure bullshit.

tbh, I am getting bored of cookie cutter bands copying BBB, or RIB, or MOP, or RIP, etc.. I am glad that Exodus can still thrash yet can make it sound modern. Sure, this is no Ironbound, that is the best way an old band can still thrash while still sounding fresh. But this album is still good. IMO it may be one of the most diverse albums in the discography. Lots of accoustic moments, and some mid-paced almost doomy stuff. But it still thrashes and grooves and even goes metalcore (which is basically thrashes bastard child) so I really don't see the problem with this album. Sure they played it safe, but they still came up with a good album.

now I'm going to bed. so yeah...

eat me

And in other news today, Thrash Metal was shocked by the sellout of one of its most devoted walnuts...

His performance on Pleasures was weak. The only other time he sounded weak after that was on Force of Habit. I do not hear any metalcore influence on Tempo. He sounds like a really pissed off Bon Scott which, IMO, sound fucking great. Too bad he such a pussy about touring or he would still be with them.

What the fuck? In the very first paragraph I say that I like both TotD and SHKM, I also state that both are better than this in the last paragraph. Yeah they played it safe, they did that on Exhibit A as well. Sure it's no BBB, I never expected it to be, but is it wrong to compare it to their best work? Fuck no.

Although after 25 years and several lineup changes .. is there really a point?

Yeah, there is a point, it's called retirement.
