He really just described trying to enjoy this album as torture yet still it is good?

Listened to it this weekend... Slightly better than the review says (imo, of course) but pretty average. 75-79 is the score I'd give. New Heathen and Overkill ones are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better than this one.

Sometimes the best albums are very hard to listen in the beginning, but when the moment comes when it makes click, it was worth the torture. :D E.G. Emperors Prometheus was very hard to get into. Or Dream Theaters Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. Or Metallicas Death Magnetic. Or Metallicas And Justice for all. And the latter is a perfect example. First you listened One and it was great, but the rest was very complex and the songs were too long and the riffs too boring and the sound too thin. And today everybody loves it. ;)

Are your ears broken or something? AJFA is pretty straightforward when not considered through the lens of a thrash fan. Anyways, Exodus has never been one of the greatest thrash bands and they've only gotten worse. The two tracks I heard on myspace did nothing for me.

I think he meant to say that AJFA is complex compared to other Metallica albums, not other metal in general.

But I will stay out of this.

I think that's what I ought to do too. So how about Rob Dukes?

If ajfa was straightforward, what was the black album???

And IMO Exhibit B shows Rob Dukes best performance so far.

That's not really a Herculean feat.

Dukes sucks. I may like this album, but you'll never hear me say that I like Dukes.

The new Annihilator has quite a bit of groove to it.

Ambush? Coward? The Trend? They are all speed metal songs or thrash metal songs with a shit ton of solos.
