I guess it's inoffensive background music at best, there are too many moments where I hear rehashed sounds of Transilvanian Hunger. Its at worst plagiarism and at best typical black metal, I guess Ill just have to stick too Behexen

Yeah, nothing original here, but still a nice slap of enjoyable black metal.

Well, I like my black metal done in the old way, so no complaints here.
Good album.

Yes, this isn't much of anything innovative. What it is is an old school Scandinavian sound done over in good form. Any fans of traditional BM would enjoy this band.

Is there such a thing as a minor power chord? I thought the whole point of a power chord was that it was neither minor or major, just fifths... I'm not a guitarist so I could be completely wrong here.

Anyway... Good review though I guess I'd score this lower. Effective but not very interesting band, I reckon.

I've only listened to two albums by these guys, this one and something else (that has also been reviewed here), and though it's not an 88 by any means I think it's the better of the two albums. A fun listen every once in a while.

There is no such thing as a minor power chord. Chords are defined as minor by a flattened third, and there are no thirds in power chords.

I debated between an 84 or an 88 but resulted for the latter due to me having a soft spot. You're all welcome to disagree but I enjoy this. To answer Rio's question: I don't know if it's actually called a "power chord" but I call it that. You simply reverse the fingering. Example on a G5 chord you take your first finger and move it from the third fret on the 6th string to the third fret on the 5th string and do the opposite with the 3rd finger. That way you get a minor sound.

That's just a minor 3rd.
