Very cool. I found it funny how he said the rape thing wasn't a big deal inside and that it didn't happen very often and how he got raped "only once" during his two years in prison. Sort of conflicting messages there

I read the whole post, but then also a lot of the posts in the thread discussing the OP.

Some people bring up some interesting thoughts regarding the legitimacy of the story.

Some people who also purport to have been in jail refute his story based on their personal experiences, while another guy searched public records of prisions in Michigan during the period in question and found that there were no murders or killings reported during that time. I suppose that's neither here nor there as it could get covered up, but it's interesting at least. The most glaring point was that someone found some evidence to suggest that tasers aren't even allowed in Michigan prisons.

And I have to say, the reason I bothered to look at so many of the replies is because I questioned its legitimacy while I read it. Not because it sounded like bullshit, in fact it sounded very convincing in places, but because it sounded like storytelling.

I like to consider myself a hobbyist writer, so I feel like I know at least a little bit about constructing a story, and what makes an exciting set-piece and the like.

The part where one of the guards tries to taser an inmate, but only one of the prongs hits the inmate, while the other prong hits another guard, and then the two of them fighting completes the circuit and they both go down, all in the middle of a riot.....pretty crazy, right? A little too crazy.

That the event described above is then capped off by a poignant observation from an "old timer" inmate......I dunno, man. Sounds like storytelling to me.

Great read nonetheless.

EDIT: I have trawled a lot more of the comments now, and there a lot of further inconsistencies which people have noticed, and which are pretty convincing evidence this is fake.

fact is noodles, most of the time when I read something about someone's prison experience it's an exaggerated version. This particular guy probably did get locked up. But he says he had a 18 month sentence. He never would of went to a max security prison with a 18 month sentence.

Pretty much everything is exaggerated. His heroin use for example. Drugs aren't cheaper in prison #1. One "shot of heroin" as this guy calls it never Never would last a week #2. I'm from jersey so maybe they call guards "screws" wherever this guy is from but I'm pretty sure that was the forties when guards were called screws and cops were coppers.

So yeah this is not real. He wasn't raped. He had a 18 month sentence in a easy min security prison and wants to act tough. That's all.
