I gave it an 85, I really like this album, just not as much as the first.

BTW, great review.

my rate is 60, the first one deserved a 75 so it's a disappointment

I think one of the biggest differences between this album and the first is that alot of the songs follow the style of those like "Fiddler on the Green" and "Path To Glory". They both have slower, mellow parts with acoustics only to kick in to heavier segments and switch back again.

After listening through it one time, the only thing i remember is that the production was awful bad. I thought Iced Earth had a lot of potential, but the production makde me wonder if I am listening to an old audio tape instead of a cd!? I like BG, especially their older material, and I can't find hardly anything this has in common with this. Maybe I should give it another try, but I doubt I will start to like it...

Had some hopes for a better album then the first D&W(which is 70) , but this one is even worse-65. Maybe after couple of more listens it will grow on me , but i doubt it. The only song that captured my attention was Crimson King. The rest are from mediocre to simply good songs and nothing special.

I am quite suprised not many people seem to like this album,as i believe it is quite fantastic.Love the light and shade, and there is a lot to take in,so will take a while to get used to it which is good.
I would rate it 88%,and the weird thing is i never liked the first album that much,so in my hunble opinion this fucking rocks hard.

It's a great album, but people knew what to expect and therefore are disappointed. That's what I think. Give it time and you'll begin to appreciate it.

I could have done without the Zep cover, though. As a bonus track, fine...I'll take it, but knowing that the two bonus tracks that'll be on certain releases will be original tunes, it kind of irritates me.

I gave it an 89 in the end. 4 fantastic songs, the rest is solid. Well, except for the Immigrant Song cover and Seize the Day.

I'm definently buying this on the 27th.

I agree i am big Metal/rock fan, but regardless of origins, history and heritage I cannot dig led Zep no matter how hard I try to.
Even hated it when great white covered there stuff during the 80s.
Just never can get into them. Much overated in my opinion.
SO I know i will dislike the cover and I have not heard it
my expectations will be at a low for pre-listening.

I haven't got a chance to listen to this album yet, I want to but before I buy it. I need to know some opinions is it more or less melodic than the First album? I liked the first one not better than Iced Earth or Blind Guardian stuff, but still good, kinda a hybrid of the two bands.

IT's a great album, I like it as much as the other one, yet I gave diferent points to each. This one has a little more "ambiance" than the other in my opinion.
But I might have given them the same. I only listen to this one 2 times, I may change it later.

I love it how the only time Jon Schaffer can come up with something good is when Hansi is involved. Pretty sad. Good album though.

If that. .....actually I have listened to Iced Earth a few more times, and I have realized that they have a few good songs. Better than I thouht. But I'm still not a huge fan.

This is a great album but as the previous one is not as good as blind guardian or iced earth

I actually purchased both the debut and Touched by the Crimson King at roughly the same time. I bought the debut a month before. I'm a huge Iced Earth fan, but I stayed away from Demons and Wizards for the longest time because of Hansi (I heard a couple tracks as well). I couldn't stand his voice, although now I've gotten used to it, and I even find it impressive on certain songs.

In all honesty, I prefer The Crimson King. Jon and Hansi seem to mesh better on this one. The songs on The Crimson King are catchier and more atmospheric, as opposed to dark and gloomy. In the end, enjoyed both albums more then I thought I was going to. I gave this one an 87.
