The Pokemon theme on this album is awesome.

Haven't heard much else, though.

Tony Kakko singing the Pokemon theme is greatness.

The band and this album are really great and all but the production of it is bullshit unfortunately. It all sounds too muddy and sometimes a bit weak. The music, however, is marvelous.

Wow, had no idea these guys had a new album out! If I had, then I would've ended up reviewing it myself. Perhaps I should do a Powerglove archive or two.

Anyway, after listening to this album, I must say that this is one massive piece of nostalgia. That Pokemon cover is fucking breathtaking. Not that familiar with some of the songs on it (X-Men, New Adventures of Johnny Quest), but most are great. Their musicianship has never been better. And I don't find the production to be bad at all, personally.

Pretty enjoyable. I don't know why, but even as a Nintendo nut and lifetime geek these guys wear thin on me after a bit.

After listening I'd say this is maybe a 70 tops.

This is a cool concept and they are a talented group of musicians. Personally I like their previous album better, but both albums are great.

Yeah. I think the only way to enjoy this band is to like the game or song that they are covering. For instance, I only know and like the Xmen theme song on this one, which is pretty awesome by the way, but not by virtue of Powerglove, mostly because the song was awesome when it was written.

On their earlier releases, they disappoint on some of the songs. I thought they could have done the original Legend of Zelda theme to great effect, the Mega Man 2 Dr. WIly's Theme is poorly interpreted, and the Mario song is changed up way too much.

But then again, they're just interpreting these songs their own way, so it's not that they're bad, I just don't appreciate their take.

But Xmen is pretty fucking awesome.

Definitely doing some very cool stuff, but I guess they're just not for me, and maybe I'm too young.

No, you're right about this. The band isnt that good. I mean, from an artistic standpoint they don't really write their own material. They take prewritten melodies and alter the arrangements. That's pretty much it. But, for this genre....cartoon/videogame/cover metal, they're the top band. But let's be honest here, this is no substitute for a real band that writes its own material.

The Black Mages > All other video game cover bands

The guy behind it (Nobuo Uematsu) does, in fact, write his own music! And there's some awesome soloing to be found on all 3 records.

I really really really hope there's another one coming soon.

Now this I agree with.
