Pretty solid for the most part.

Oh, and in before "NSBM."

"Satanic Tyrant Werwolf?"

Not trying to be a dick, but is this a joke? It can be a well-executed and talented joke with solid music behind it, but I can't possibly be expected to take that name with a straight face. It seems more fit for a parody of black metal than for a "real" black metal band. And people seem to take black metal so seriously all the time that I don't know what to think. But maybe I'm making that last part up.

Why does a fake alias that somebody takes have to be serious again?

I dig these guys, but all their albums tend to blur into one, somehow, with me.

I thought this guy were off limits. Is there a period in their discography where he wasn't NS???

I listened to Strength and Honour yesterday and I had the same experience. I'll still give this one a listen though.

It totally doesn't. I just like to know whether I'm laughing at or with people, is all.

Now, it seems. Unless vampires and werewolves are metaphors for Nazis and Soviets... Nattulv?

I had totally forgotten about this band. Probably because of hearing a lyric that said "inferior Turks" or something like that. I'll give this a listen though. If it pleases me, I don't mind if its NS. It's art.

Pretty sure he dropped all that NS crap because of all the bad publicity.

I enjoy all of SW's work.

Well, not to rekindle the flames, but if Kroda singing about fallen ancestors and the glory of Ukraine was labeled NS because of an accused "genocidal flute player," then what's the deal here.

Meh, personally I don't care whether a band is NS or not, because it's the intensity, emotion, and musicianship that matter to me. But if you guys want to cherry pick and choose albums based on how "politically correct" they are, by all means go for it, but I think it's a terrible way to justify which albums to review or not.

I'm assuming that pretty much everyone in the forum's primary language is English, so unless the lyrics and themes are blatantly Nazi in English I don't see a problem.

Me neither, personally, but as part of a team that caters to a wider group of people than those like us with liberal attitudes towards other peoples' viewpoints, it's not solely down to me. Still, not being able to review a few OTT RAC bands and what, Nokturnal Mortum and one or two others, does leave me with quite a large choice of review material, so it's not that bad.

I'm all for reviewing whatever, but there are kind of unwritten parameters that I was made aware of when I first reserved a review for SW. But I'll go ahead and review it in the coming weeks, because I think the attitude on the site has gravitated towards an "I don't mind what the ideology is as long as you get it right" type of thing, which caused the outrage when I called Kroda borderline NSBM when really Ukrainian Nationalism is a different belief model.

Well, it's hard to know with some bands, which is where most of the debate arises. Bands that actually preach hatred go over my line; bands that just sort of talk about vague battles and things but have 'dodgy' associations are passable. Remember that you're writing for an audience that is not solely made up of NSBM apologists, though, and that a lot of our readership would be cross were we to review extremist types without at least a little pisstaking. And I'm always happy to take the piss out of extremist types; I'd have had some fun at this Satanic Tyrant Vampire Werewolf Cyborg Tyrant fellow's expense if I wrote this review, for sure.

SW is definitely one of those bands that aren't extreme enough to warrant any complaints.

Well, he is anti-judeochristian basically. It seems that a lot of people have a stigma nowadays against disliking Judaism because of past atrocities. I sympathize, but on the other hand, tons of bands can talk about killing christians, priests, and burning churches and nobody bats an eye at it.

On the next Rush review or some shit like that, I'll have to make fun of them for possible psychotropic drug use and destroying their bodies. We simply can't agree with that can we?

Call me crazy, but I think that there's more than a slight difference between the holocaust and someone taking some drugs. As for the 'everyone talks about killing Christians and no-one minds, so why can't we talk about killing Jews?' line of argument, there wasn't a mass extermination of Christians on the same scale this past century. Besides, most of the Jew-haters look on the holocaust favourably; I doubt Amon Amarth would really start swinging axes given a chance.

Zad has a point. There really hasn't been a genocide of Christians since the Roman days. Ever since the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, they're the ones who have been doing the killing lol.
