I'm done with the general chemistry-part of the basic nutririon course. Now it's on to the biochemistry, which is heavy as fuck.

I'm at least a bad enough dude to write a screenplay.

Term papers this semester will be about:

-The relation between Heidegger's inauthenticity and Marx's alienation, drawing on Adorno's critique of Heidegger's Da-sein as the self emerged in late capitalism using Fredric Jameson's The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism to explain how the attributes of inauthenticity are functions of late capitalism.
-Creating an account of practical/political action out of Cartesian ethics.
-Using Arendt's single chapter on the Labor movement to problematize her distinction of social issues (e.g., poverty, racism, sexism, homophobia) and politics (deeds and speech without motive beyond presenting yourself to the public as an equal).

Excited!

Had to do a class on it.

Why a psychology unit needed a textbook teaching you how to be a good corporate employee is beyond me.

I'd want to just take take the 'F' in a class called 'Interpersonal Communication' and move on.

Exams-time here.. Not particularly struggling with any of the chemistry og biochemistry parts. But there's so much detail to pay attention to.

Just submitted this abstract to a black studies conference:

The socialist rapper Immortal Technique provides an example of what political opposition looks like in the age of globalization and mass culture, vocalizing a radical, subversive, uninhibited story of the plight of the oppressed and marginalized at the lowest rungs of capitalist society. The song, “The Poverty of Philosophy”, encapsulates what Fanon describes in “The Wretched of the Earth” where the colonized come to consciousness and stand in fierce opposition to the ruling class. Comparing the lyrics to Fanon’s account provides a concrete grounding for the politics that Technique advocates.
However, a dialectical negation of the conditions which create oppression must be brought about yet Technique only affirms what he opposes through his use of homophobic slurs and misogynistic rhymes which cannot be ignored as poetic license. Technique lacks the intersectional awareness which an intelligent individual of the Left should have. bell hooks’ essay “don’t make me hurt you” provides a counter to this hyper-masculinity and violence, outlining just how Technique is locked in the patriarchial system, internalizing the notions of masculinity of the oppressors that he should oppose.
“To destroy an oppressor and the man he oppresses at the time” as Sartre phrased it, may be a possible form of radical politics yet bell hooks provides a way of transcending the means of the oppressor to try and create new forms of dissent. This would enable Immortal Technique to break the silence which the marginalized are reduced to without perverting his message with abusive, patriarchial notions.

College was too easy for me, except the circuits and electronics classes because they couldn't give me a straight answer on where the hell the energy came from. The answer is always magnetic flux by the way. Power leaks from a source so tny we've never seen it's parts. It's unbelieveable that that is the case. Think about this guys. The sun moves planets. We move moons. I can defy the tremendous gravity of Earth's Magnetic core with a cheap fridge magnet. Do you know how much power that takes? The components in a stereo are rated to handle no more than 10 watts ever, but more likely a single watt...how does that become 1000watts? The speaker powers the device.

The schools complete failure to disclose this information because they were never told themselves is frightening. Electronics operate in 4 dimensions (well, more but the 4th has more power than it is possible to use) however science is stuck in 3d and the observable world regardless that you demonstrate the functionality. I can't prove my speaker is providing current, so I guess when the did it the first time they thought the massive amount of useless current they fed in was the reason. Bullshit. There's more current in a small speaker than a nuclear power plant exploding a million times. You just have to pull it out where it is infinite and replenishing like a current, not the self destructive system we have developed.

Back in the early 1900's they explained that there were two hot poles in a circuit always. positive, negative and ground. eventually they dropped the negative (only to bring it back when they realized that electrons were negatively charged.) This left a huge mess in the theory. Basically, having that pesky, but critical extra pole made the math so difficult few could follow it. With the extra hot pole and hard to grasp nature of subatomic physics, the problem is confounding. The only answer is literally "magic" until we can build something that can see millionths of times small than atoms.

I was going to say something sarcastic about what would happen were Trapt to say something like that to some gangster rappers, but then I started to read Adveser's post and all I can think about now is fuckin energy, where does it come from? I want to set up a laboratory with Addy and study about how to shoot electricity out of my fingers at people.

Since I'm studying dietics I think it's a bit easier to set the term energy into perspective. The first law of thermodynamics is that "Energy can't be created or destroyed, only transformed." And well an easy way to look at it:

As you eat, and as carbohydrates, proteins and fat gets degraded energy is released as heat which again keeps your body temperature constant.

The point is that it's much easier to discuss energy at a low level, in closed up small systems such as a human body or a car.

I love the guy. He has some killer rhymes. I just wish that he didn't use the word "fag" so often and always mention women in reference to "giving brain". He's not the most musically strong I guess but I guess I overlook that for the vibe and the message that he gives off.

I just generally dislike aggressive hip hop. I like the more laid back stuff.

Plus, his lyrics are full of ludicrous conspiracy theories, he seems like a self righteous twat, and yes, the constant use of "fag" and other slurs is tiresome.

While I don't think the slurs are poetic license, I like to think of the conspiracy theories as just devices rather than the gospel. I think I like aggressive hip hop.
