Look at this fucking hipster...

Just kidding, big guy.

Four Lokos taste like jolly ranchers...I've just tasted though, haven't actually drank one. I'm kinda glad they're getting banned, even though I would probably drink a whole one myself. Energy drink and malt liquor in a can...so emblematic of today's dumbass youth.

I've had so much goddamn work lately, I haven't been able to kick back relax or party in a long ass time. Looking forward to popping a few good brews in my system this weekend...I had this beer not too long ago called Bear Republic that was really goddamn good. Local brewery in Cali, I think. Good shit.

have been drinking more wine since i started working at the shop, mostly whites. also tried a couple of vintage Port wines but they're fucking expensive. had the chance to taste what is arguably portugal's best, quinta do noval, but even the most recent one, 2008, costs at least €80 in a shop.
if i ever become filthy rich i'll drink nothing but fancy sparklers and vintage Port.

beer has to be Duvel, even if we only get the 8,5% in Portugal (i was told in Belgium it's 12%). but only occasionally, it's fucking €2,4 in the supermarket!

I don't know who told you that, but to my knowledge there's only the 8,5%. I'm quite surprised it's that expensive in Portugal. Yesterday I bought a sixpack for only €5,89.

regular bars or like popular nightlife bars/discos?

if it's the former it's steep, but for the latter it's still awesome. here it's €1-2 for 33cl in a regular place, 2-3€ in a popular bar and more, up to 5, in a club. man i hate clubs and their insane drinks prices.

Aberdeen is one of the UK's most expensive cities, and pub prices go from £2 for a Carlsberg to £3.60 for a Guinness or a locally brewed cask ale. The student union has Tennent's, which is good enough, for £1.50. Scummier places like Glasgow or Dundee have the glorious "pound a pint". Single malt whiskies are around £2 for a glass. As for clubs, well, here the prices don't change at all. In fact, sometimes it's cheaper. Student Wednesdays, for example: 75p for a vodka coke and I'm on my ass after a tenner.

Norway's government is dead set on reducing alcoholism, violence and criminality so the taxes on alcohol are insane. In a pub, a pint goes for about 8 euros, or 6 pounds. Whiskey and stuff like that goes for at least 10 pounds if you're lucky.

it sounds insane, but in Norway bus tickets are €2+ and you also have the world's most expensive McDonalds, i believe.

is it steep considering Norwegian wages?

It's like that in Switzerland. Not because of taxes, but because everything is so goddamm expensive. Pint of local beer is 6 francs, or 4 pounds, and Guinness is 9 francs, or 6 pounds. Balances out though, as minimum wage is 20 francs an hour.

Well, it depends on what you're working with. There's no minimum wage in Norway, so for a student like me, or for someone with no education, it's steep as hell yeah. The wage difference is insane from public to private companies, and especially within healthcare so yeah, I would say it's rather steep, especially considering how the prices are raised each year at a higher rate than wage.

EDIT: About the McDonalds thing, yeah, probably the most expensive, but also because of taxes and shit. But you know, I'm not as opposed to that, probably because I study dietics and see what shit like that does to people. After all, the government are putting these taxes on to prevent obesity and a reduction in average health, which is okay I guess.

I'm talking about regular bars. Popular or not popular doesn't really matter, it' always 2,8-3 euros. I don't go to clubs so I don't know how much you have to pay for Duvel there.

Has anyone ever seen the documentary Beer Wars? It's a pretty good case against Anheuser Busch and their dirty corporate tricks.

Guinness, Kozel dark, Miller dark...

I like cider more than beer, though.

I actually just saw it a couple of weeks ago. Yeah it is good. It reiterated a lot of what I already knew, but I had no clue how political the beer scene really was. I will never touch a 'Big Three' beer ever again.

ND -- Goose Island - Mild Winter. Chicago based brewery's seasonal ale. Delicious.

Yeah 312 is awesome. You really cant go wrong with any Goose Island, but my favorite is the Honker's Ale.

Revivin' this shit.

So I have taken to drinking the cheap beers as of late. Seriously, my top three are Miller High Life, then Rolling Rock, then PBR. Those are what I generally drink when we go out for wing night or something. Nothing beats buffalo wings and Rolling Rock.

Negro Modelo is also super tasty and kinda surprises me that Alexander actually drinks it. I guess I just imagined it as being something they sold Americans to ignorant to know any better. But tasty nonetheless.

As for classy beers, you can't go wrong with Stone brewery. Sick ass gargoyle designs and awesome brews. Personal favorite is the Arrogant Bastard (how suiting har har har but kinda a funny date joke). If you like IPAs, Stone makes the best. Their Levitation Ale is a sick heavy, thick, dark beer that will basically ruin your night's palate.

Shiner has a grapefruit and ginger tinged beer called Ruby Redbird, which is super tasty. I'm spending the summer living with my mother and have turned her onto it over the nasty Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. Nasty shit. Loose Cannon makes a better citrus-y beer called Sea Nymph.

Red Eye makes an espresso porter which is super tasty and comes in at 12% ABV.

And I basically hate Dogfish Head. Anything they put out. Albeit their brown is better than Newcastle's, but that doesn't mean I would want to actually drink it.
